Problem with box containers (exactly same problem in Sketch)
Bounding box for text layers: it randomly adds extra space above or below, and doesn't crop the bounding box straight to the top and bottom of the text.
It is really difficult to measure properly, work in pixel perfect and give the specs for the devs.
Please fix it! :-)
Unfortunately, this problem comes from the operating system and is not something we can fix reliably. However, as I mentioned in my last comment, it’s very likely that what your developers see in XD is exactly how they will have to program them when they get to implementation.
We’re not planning to fix this bug, so I’m closing it out.
I am experiencing the same issue with regards to the "extra padding", where the values that appear for the developer, are calculated from the text box vs the edge of the text itself making accuracy impossible for the developer.
What is the progress on this issue since the discussion in 2017?
• It is not an OS issue nor is it a typeface issue. The issue lies with the text box itself where it is not flush against the text.
Looking forward to the resolve!

My InDesign uses the same OS as XD, so why can it be done in InDesign and not XD? Please reconsider addressing this issue.

Me too. The difference is quite big within buttons. When I manually correct this padding and deliver the clickable specs to the developer, he uses another padding ammount than I want. To prevent this now I print a second design with the wished ammount of padding so the developer exactly knows what I want.
What we experience often is text boxes are creating spaces which we have to manually correct each time. So in this case (uncorrected manually!) If we center the text with a shape i.e. with an icon these will not perfectly center just becasue aligning intrument is measuring the total size of the actual text box and not the text itself. So each time we have to tweak the box! realign and so on..
I'm also having problems with this.
