Organize assets panel objects (symbols/components/colors/character styles) into folders
Would love to organize symbols into folder for easy accessibility. I spend too much time looking through symbols into one library.
Dear XD Community -
I’m happy to share that as part of XD 44, we have delivered the long awaited assets organization feature 🎉. So now you can flexibly groups your assets to help you organize, navigate and find your assets much faster.
This feature will allow you to:
1. Create unlimited groups and sub-groups for all your assets
2. Easily move assets between groups by drag-n-drop or using the move dialog
3. Custom Reorder your groups
4. Publish linked libraries with groups
5. Sort your document assets panel by name
To learn more about this feature check: https://helpx.adobe.com/xd/help/work-with-assets-and-libraries-xd.html
Please give it a try and let us know what you think.
Thanks,
Sherif

I imagine a better world in wich my library is ordered with categories: buttons, icons, cards, cta and much more.. Can you do something about that?

Please Adobe, when it's this feature coming? A search function would be great as well.

This is a bug, not a feature request.
I miss the folder structure of Sketch components, and cannot see how this isn't a top priority for XD. There is no way to scan your components, and the "work-around" of creating text components to label sections only persists during one session.
Teams are struggling to use XD for component libraries, and it will only get worse as libraries grow.

I would say it is a must for designers to add custom categories to the assets panel. E.g. Buttons, Controls, Forms, Elevation etc. Just like character styles and colors. Right now you have to make a text on the artboard a component to function as a divider. The workaround does not work in asset grid view.

It's been so hard working on a design system without categorize components... and don't works categorize manually: when importing a file with components to use them on another file, it comes with an aleatory ordering. Frustating.

The sidepanel, especially the Components side panel gets cluttered very quickly. Please add groups for components so we can organize Elements the way we want.

This is a desperately needed feature along with the specific ability to better manage and remove unused symbols / components. With the ever increasing complexity our design demands and cross-document linkages, managing orphaned components is becoming a nightmare. The ability to manage components currently in Adobe XD is akin to changing styles on MySpace back in the day (Awful). Currently it's more like a hack rather than a feature or coherent process. Unless this is quickly addressed, our files and design system assets are almost impossible to maintain and will look elsewhere to the likes of Figma. Seems that choosing Adobe XD for our solution is making our lives worse, not better.

To address some deeply painful usability issues for managing components and screens, it would be incredibly useful to add the following:
- folders or accordions that you can sort your components and screens into
- PERSISTENT COMPONENT ORDERING. Every release you say its fixed I waste time manually ordering my components, and then its lost within the same day. Soooooooo. very. frustrating.
- alphabetical sorting on screen names
- search bar for components and screens.WHY: Software is nearly un-useable when you are actually trying to create enterprise-size prototypes, because of the time spent scrolling through component libraries and screens.

i wish that the component grouping works for the component panel.
sketch solves this cleverly by prefixing "/" in the file declaration for the grouping -

I love that in XD I can drag and access assets from a side panel. HOWEVER, The amount of colors, character styles, and components quickly becomes super extensive. Please develop a way for those to be organized into collapsible folders. It would make designing so much more efficient.

No way to use a design system without organizing symbols by category.

When working on a large-scale project I find it really hard to keep overview in a library with several dozens of assets/components some of them nested and would really like to organnize them in folders, for example:
-- Icons
-- Navigation
-- Dialogs
-- Styles
When working with the principle of atomic design it would also make sense to have seperate folders for
-- atoms
-- molecules
-- organisms
-- etc. -

Also, the order of the styles and components change. If I drag them into a specific order, I would like them to stay in that order!!

Yesss, so hard to find anything when there are lots of components in the design system today. Folders would make this so much easier.

Absolutely key for using XD as production tool in big projects with design systems!
Come on, devs, just give us folders - no magic here I guess.(also would make importing well organized sketch files that used folders easier)

This feature is absolutely necessary to work well organized in XD.
You can do that, thanks. -
