Hi,

I’m closing this one, as we’ve delivered the feature a while ago. We’re also continuously improving our integration with Illustrator and working on adding support for opening Ai files in XD.

If you are experiencing issues with the current copy paste feature, please open a new thread in the bug area: https://adobexd.uservoice.com/forums/353010-adobe-xd-bugs

Many thanks,
Dan

Hi,

The workflow that copies vector information from Illustrator into XD should work seamlessly, period!

In my post below, i was trying to gather more information to troubleshoot the problem and fix the issue the customer was seeing. In order to do that, i came up with some possible ways to gather this information.

I hope you are seeing this the same way it was intended in the first place.

Cheers,
M.

Hi,

It would be helpful if you could share more information with us about this situation:

  • what OS and XD version are you using
  • what version of AI are you using

I would like you to perform the following testing:

  • export from AI to SVG
  • make sure that the SVG is displayed properly in a browser
  • import the SVG into XD

Cheers,
M.

Paste from Illustrator is now in the March release of Adobe XD. To update, go to the Creative Cloud application, click on the gear, and select “Check for App Updates.”

We’ve started work on copying from Illustrator to XD on Windows 10.

I can copy and paste sometimes from AI to XD - why?

Why do some elements copy and paste from AI to XD without issue and some will not?!

I can't find anything online - if I group or ungroup the items it makes no difference.

    What is going on?

    Thanks.

I should have thought of this option, directly copying Illustrator vector into XD, earlier as I do it with InDesign and Photoshop. This fits into my workflow. An additional feature would be an option for pasted vector to be linked to any updates done in Illustrator.

    Here's the thing Mihnea.

If I copy a vector out of Illustrator into another Adobe product there is a reasonable expectation that it's going to work seamlessly. Suggesting that I should go through an export process is not the right answer from a usabiilty standpoint.

UX Designers are pretty picky when it comes to their tools.

That answer (do more work, we don't support seamless integration) is never ever going to fly with us.

it works, but there is something missing: paste at exact position.
Say I have a 1920 x 1080 artboard in Illustrator and a same size one in XD. Say I want to copy an element that is positioned at x =100px y=330 px to be in the same exact spot in XD as it is in Ai.
Currently it works as pasting it on the middle of the artboard regardless it's position in Ai / Ps.

SUPER important to connect the adobe products together. It will also help me convert to using XD in the future.
