Label/rename and organize/reorder symbol library
As title! I'm sure this will come into play as part of https://adobexd.uservoice.com/forums/353007-adobe-xd-feature-requests/suggestions/12931467-reusable-symbols-master-objects
but I just wanted to make sure it was out there.
Partial completion — Label/rename done, organize/reorder engineering effort in process.

I now realize that the "give your element or group a custom name before converting it to a Symbol" only works when you are converting a single element or group to a Symbol.
When converting a selection of multiple items to a Symbol, XD internally creates group to contain everything before making it a Symbol. In this case, you'll need to manually group your selection then give the new group a custom name before converting it to a Symbol.
Hope this helps,

I'd like to group symbols and name them.

I am using Version 2.1.32 and this doesn't work. I group my objects and give them a name, then convert to a symbol. Regardless, they are given a symbol #-# name

Yes! This is a much-needed feature :) What David Knell said, too.

Yes, we plan to allow renaming of Symbols in the Assets Panel.

Also would be a good idea when I click a symbol in the canvas that symbol should be selected i the symbols library

Yes. Really need this so I don't have to copy paste the symbol with the updated name everywhere in my design.

+1 on this! Symbols in XD are a mess. Images only, no way of naming them (what if two symbols look very similar and I can't tell the difference?). And a way to put them into folders.

Adobe XD will never surpass Sketch if they don't add a proper Symbol tree system like they have. It just makes sense and once you defined your components and elements you can customise them atomically very easily, keeping and editing Symbol elements separately from the design.
This needs to be focused on asap. -

Please add this. It's maddening to not be able to name Symbols and Character Styles.

What about reuse assets in different files?

It would be nice if we can have a short name what is exactly the symbol. because there are situations we can understand by small image, check the attachments for reference

Agreed, please add the ability to rename symbols and search for symbols.

Yes:
- ability to group symbols
- ability to rename symbols
- a search bar at the top to easily find the symbol you're looking for
- the symbol's name as a text label by each symbol (at the very least, when you hover over the symbol in the symbols panel the symbol name should appear but showing a label is better) -

I would like to see the ability to arrange/order and group symbols within the panel

Symbols need a full set of organizational features.

Organizing and labeling symbols is crucial. I dislike the way it is handled in the screenshot Steve shared, but definitely would love to see this feature added.

Agree with these comments, getting into real-world use cases with XD and it's very slow to use if you can't see the name of the Symbol in the symbol palette and be able to give them a descriptive name. An example would be say a logo used in headers at different website breakpoints, each might only be a few pixels different in size but this can't be spotted from just looking at the thumbnail images.
The speed you gain by allowing symbols you then just lose once you've got more than a handful in a project. -

ESSENTIAL.
