I’m happy to announce that starting today, with the latest update, Artboard Guides functionality is part of XD!
Creation is very simple, you can simply point to the top and left of any artboard, click and drag to create guides.
You can check how Guides work in a short video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnalFtR2KMA ) or check out Adobe XD’s help pages to see all the details of the feature (https://helpx.adobe.com/xd/help/artboards-grids.html#custom-artboard-guides).
Happy designing!

Needs to have guides with ability to set a whole grid system (for example Bootstrap grid).

XD is dragging it's feet with this feature a year now and no guides. Muse update not only has guides but you can adjust content with placed guides creating an interactive responsive workflow.

Guide layout function is what's needed more than dragable guides/rules although they are needed too. Adapting the photoshop grid layout function to Xd is what is really needed in Xd by this point. Although it's possible at the moment to make a guide grid in Illustrator and paste in Xd—the whole grid layout menu/function should already be available in Xd.

An ability to drag out persistent guides to an artboard and have other objects snap to it

Seriously, how is this not a feature. Like really this is the straw that broke the camels back for me. I've really tried hard to do XD, but really basic, must have features are missing.

Cant believe this is not in there...
That said, pull it into line with indesign, margins, gutters and padding on objects would be a great feature. Text and object styles too please. -

Dumbfounded to learn Adobe XD does NOT have the most basic and necessary feature for layout/design: Margins and Columns. It's IMBECILIC. Sketch has it. Without it, XD is a non-starter of a program. I'm not talking about dragging out the occasional guide here and there, I mean a controllable grid, with margins, columns and gutters. I was all set to embrace XD. Not now. It'll be Sketch.

It's been a full year and I still haven't done anything other than open this application because it's missing the SINGLE most basic and necessary feature, available in every other competing app - rulers and guides. It's truly unbelievable this hasn't been implemented. All the other work on this is just wasted without it. Who is running this project?

I like XD, but it's unusable for professional use until basic features like guides & rulers are in. It should have been on of the FIRST things introduced in the app.

This is such a basic feature and is fundamental for designing wireframes

wtf how can you make a design app without guidelines, this absolutely ridiculous! Come on Adobe! Add some rulers while you're at it, currently this app with so many features missing is no contest for sketch

This is a feature we expect with Adobe Products. It would make this feel more familiar if it had rulers and guides.
