I’m happy to announce that starting today, with the latest update, Artboard Guides functionality is part of XD!
Creation is very simple, you can simply point to the top and left of any artboard, click and drag to create guides.
You can check how Guides work in a short video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnalFtR2KMA ) or check out Adobe XD’s help pages to see all the details of the feature (https://helpx.adobe.com/xd/help/artboards-grids.html#custom-artboard-guides).
Happy designing!

Can you give us just a bit more information? Guide lines make sense -- we are considering how to allow users to drag horizontal and vertical guides (from a ruler? if not a ruler the edge of the artboard?). Can you explain what the "dotted edges" would be exactly?

I miss the guide line and dotted edges, I end up importing this from Illustrator which is not a good experience.
[Sinto falta de guide line e bordas pontilhadas, acabo importando isso do Illustrator o que não é uma experiência boa.]

All of the other programs have basic rulers... Why would you think it's okay to leave out this feature? just saying...

I am responsible for the UI of an enterpise business application that runs in the browser. I'm not designing a consumer / mass product for mobile. II have been desparate for a design tool to produce mock-ups and prototypes. I have been jealous that Mac has sketch, but none of the alternatives for Windows seem adequate. What I want: A vector based tool with the layout and design tools (guides, grids, layout, measuring, etc.) that Photoshop has with some animation features that I can build prototypes with.
Adobe XD is nothing more than a very stripped down version of AI with some very weak animation tools. With enthusiasm, I started using XD three months ago, but my workflow has gone from using Photoshop for everything, to trying to XD for everything, to using Photoshop to measure screenshots and set layouts and XD to finalize design, to just going back to Photoshop.
I don't understand the value-add XD provides unless this very light vector tools is exactly what mobile developers want??
This is what every designer. I myself agree 100% on this.

'Under Review' for nearly two years??
Even Acrobat pro has ruler guides. This is ESSENTIAL!!
I've been working in XD now for three months and this is, and other essential design tools that somehow have made it in all other Adobe products - but not XD, really slow down my workflow - instead of improving it.
I'm waiting for Invision Studio to come out and will either adopt it, or something else, but I'm definitely jumping ship.

To set up a work starting from an old webpage the Rulers should be a must, to make the calculation now I am still using Fireworks :(

Yes please! It doesn't make sense that it doesn't have this feature!

I can't stress how important this is when trying to align design elements. Feels like it should be an easy add, why not put it into the product??
