Button tool - style text box with border, background color, padding (auto resized when text changes)
To speed workflow it would be good to have button tool in the sidebar. In the property inspector you'd have the ability to specify the top, bottom, left and right padding. the width of button would dynamically resize as you type the button's label.
January 2020’s release of XD now supports content aware layout, which enables you to create flexible buttons. Check out more here: https://letsxd.com/content-aware-layout

Handle text as an attribute of a shape, not as a separate graphic element.
- In a UX text is most often bound to a visual affordance - button, tab, container etc. It is just an attribute of a shape.
- CSS lets the user style DIVS so they can be all of these things.
- It is annoying to have to manage graphic attributes of text - vertical and horizontal alignment, padding, margins, size, wrapping - of text by for buttons, tabs, containers, etc separately from the shape that defines them.
- Text and the affordances they label or fill should be defined by their relationship. -

Please add options to apply color properties to text frames, not just to text inside them.

If we could add text to a box it would function the same as this request. This would save a lot of time.

It seems Subform has got UI Buttons right:

Please, this will lower the amount of objects the software (and users) have to handle. And it saves time.
Buttons, content panels, slack-like profile bubbles with initials, etc...Really useful.

I'm currently building out a UI kit for enterprise and this would be so useful not only for buttons, but for content sections. instead of having to reference my docs every-time I change a button's text, it could automatically change it for me. +1 please make this adobe <3

Sketch plugin is ok, but in InDesign this feature is handier: generic text object works the same, but has an auto-resize settings, so you wouldn't need an additional hotkeys.

YES! The dynamic button plugin for sketch is one of my most used plugins. In PS and Illustrator it's always a hassle

Having worked with Axure a lot I'd definitely love the possibility of at least drawing a shape, being able to type text into it and adjusting its position both horizontally and vertically. I don't even use the HTML button in Axure but rather create my own buttons with their shape tool. Not sure wether something similar is possible in Xd but it would be very nice :).

Most times we need the buttons fit the width of the text. The plugin "dynamic button" for sketch is perfect, it would be ideal XD had this option to create buttons with fixed text paddings no matter what you add. https://github.com/ddwht/sketch-dynamic-button

This is something that would make life a lot easier, since with the current workflow we have to create 2 separate objects (e.g. rectangle + text) and then group them.. It would be nice to just...
1) select shape
2) start typing
.. done :o) -

This is more of an Axure feature than a Photoshop/Illustrator one, but it's vital to quick wireframes/prototypes. Being able to draw a rectangle then type within it (along with setting margins, type alignment, corner radius, etc.) makes drawing buttons, section headers, and basically everything much faster. Definitely necessary if you want to be faster than Axure at wireframing.

Thinking alongside the repeat grid, I want to make buttons more easily without the hassle of manually pushing pixels to have the same padding for length of words.

Add backgrounds, effects, etc to text boxes or else ability to type into shapes.

1. Ability to type words (with basic alignment properties) into rectangles, ellipses, and lines – and having the type and draw object always be the same associated object (as opposed to a separate type box that mimics the original draw shape as seen in PS when typing onto a vector shape).
2. Easy flow chart creation, text within objects (like mocking up a text field or creating a button). Reduces complexity of objects to use within a working file. Also shaves off a little bit of time for something that a user will be doing frequently in certain parts of their design workflow.
