Would be great to have this. Not all designers want to have to delve into the lengthy process of learning code that can match their design ability. You can currently open XD documents in Dreamweaver, but it doesn't open in a publishable format.

At the very least there should be an ability to export assets as PNGs or SVGs (not entire artboards, but individual assets) so that you can do the coding yourself, and have the images come out exactly as was prototyped.

Just watched a great tutorial on coding a responsive website, but I have one word for the process: Archaic. Where is AI for this? Webflow is making inroads but would be better if one never had to leave @AdobeXD at all. Design. Publish. Done.

In other words, as a designer, I should be able to design for web and with a touch of the button publish to the web, without ever having to export code or hand over to a developer. The startup, Mason, is attempting something like this, and Webflow allows one-click publishing. And although Webflow is close to what I'm talking about, it's still too developer focussed.

I've just gone through the frustrating process of designing my website, only to hand over to a developer and ultimately the end result is close, but not the same. It's a case of broken telephone and "unable to do that". The "Preview" mode in XD should give one a real sense of what the responsiveness is like, along with the ability to hit tablet, landscape mobile, and mobile modes, and, of course, show it exactly how it would look on the web.

This is the future of web design / creation. The same applies, of course, to app development. XD needs way more in terms of providing a functioning app, without having to actually code it. Anyway, a guy can dream, can't he?

Has anyone discovered a workaround for this? I would very much like to avoid rebuilding all the pages in a complex site; HTML export to start would be amazing. Someone suggested transiting through Zeplin but it does not have HTML export either.

Please make this program as good as it can be. Let us get HTML and CSS output please please please.

Please make XD a complete developer program by generating html/css from prototype layouts.

Need it to share my prototype via closed network. It's not so good to share prototypes via open internet.

Here's a better idea...

Take Muse. Say, this is not a tool for production web sites. It is a tool for web prototyping with responsive ability and modern HTML. Simplify it to just producing nice standard HTML for export. No need for fancy javascript widgets etc, let the developers do that. Just make Muse a great tool for web prototyping. Then give it a new name if you wish..

You know it makes sense

This would be a great start. It would be wonderful to integrate some of the coding tools Zeplin offers - especially code snippets for React Native, Swift, etc. Also, the ability to create a style guide in Design Specks would be awesome.

Appending to my comment listing the elements to export (HTML, CSS, images & video files), the JavaScript files related to transitions should also be exported.

Other Adobe CC apps are designed for exporting and importing from sibling apps, such as Illustrator to Photoshop, and Photoshop to After Effects and Premiere Pro, etc.

The simplest export would be involving HTML, CSS, and the included images and video files.

Please, DO NOT MAKE THIS...

For once, Adobe, just let XD be a design program for professionals. Don't make it into a bloated app that tries to do everything and ends up doing most of it badly.

Though, I would like most of the features that should come with this, ie:
- More responsive prototypes
- Hover/click/focus effects
- Overflow-handling for smaller elements, like overflow-x on a group
- A more flexible application overall

There are already plenty of apps that's created specifically to create websites without the need for coding. Ie Webflow (great app)

XD's goal should never be to compete with those.

This is obviously needed.
As for "Katie's" comment below, i used Interface Builder back in the early 90's, and it could generate code (Obj. C) from a visual prototype.
Also, if we could capture the resulting HTML/CSS, database hooks could easily be added to it by the use of scripting such as PHP.

Exporting CSS and HTML is essential to kickstart the development process. It is great to have a tool like XD to design the user experience and prototype. But sooner than later we need to start coding to make the project real! All we need is solid CSS and some HTML5 to get going. The rest we take care of it.

Please insert the Feature. There's no reason to be able to make Designs but not being able to Export them as HTML.
