Responsive artboards / adaptive layout constraints for resizing
Similar to Edge Reflow, it would be great to have the ability to prototype responsive design ideas with a fluid, flexible canvas. Web designers need a good tool for this there really isn't anything out there to test out responsive design solutions.
Hello,
With last week’s update of XD, we introduced Responsive Resize – a way to easily resize your elements as you adapt them to different screen sizes. This should massively speed up your workflow.
Download the latest version of XD to give it a try, and check out a 3 min overview of it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKvg8_8jv10&t=2s
Look forward to hearing what you think!

I have used Adobe for over 20 years (and have enjoyed it), but it seems like they are trying to catch up with things that are needed in the prototype/ux arena (compared with InDesign and others who have already offered these practical/basic solutions for ux developers). I am disappointed and frustrated with this poorly implemented entry into this software environment. I've requested 2 basic things recently; 1. A fixed tab bar footer for phone prototypes, and 2. A responsive layout so I can present my prototypes to clients in whatever environment they're in, with a prototype that will show them the responsive functionality of the app. or website I am building. How is this not a basic include in software that is meant for this purpose?
Also, the software is very buggy on windows, it crashes a lot. Come on Adobe, if you're going to enter this field, do a better job then this!
I convinced my boss Adobe XD was a better solution than InDesign, but as I continue to use it, I regret doing so.

This is the main feature you should focus on. I will never switch to XD until you have support for responsive layouts. Thanks.

InDesign already offers Fluid Layouts, this is absolutely necessary for a program geared toward the ease of web and app prototyping and design. DO IT! DO IT NOW! MY DEVELOPER WILL LOVE YOU!

This is absolutely critical for modern responsive UI design. A big miss from Adobe if they plan on competing with other platforms.

If you have a look at invision studios (I'm sure you're aware already) they have a massive time saving feature of responsive / adaptive artboards.
Until this feature is implemented in XD, I'm hesitant on using it. I think once you make XD to have responsive artboards, and quickly implement some more sketch app like features, you will absolutely crush them and become the industry leader.
I'm a fan of all your other products, so please put this feature up soon.

Further to this, we would find VFL (and/or constraints) export hugely useful.

I agree with this and Nick's great breakdown below.
Expanding on the constraints request, we'd find VFL export hugely useful.
Also, values as % percentages based on the parent-child hierarchy, viewable in exported Design Specs. -

This idea is super, it would be nice if you can simultaneously see mobile, tablet and desktop version
something like adding multiple breaking points per project.
So you can view all targeted devices while designing. -

Hi guys,
It would be really useful to be able to define Constraints - that is to say, for example, a piece of text is centred within an object, or 30 pixel right & down from a corner. Then, if I were to resize the object to which it is constrained this relationship would be maintained thus allowing easier responsive design by building a hierarchy of relationships between objects and artboards.
Thanks

Would be great if the groups would be handled as DIVs maybe. So when you change the height of one group the groups underneath it automatically would jump down. You know, like in HTML logic - if one DIV's height has benn changed, the DIVs underneath it jump down and preserve all margins as they were. Otherwise right now you have to manually select all the groups underneath the edited group and move them manually (not cool when you create long website pages)

If they ported the Edge capabilities for responsive design with breakpoints into XD that would be amazing! I loved using Edge and it was a huge time saver!

Chris, you nailed the biggest weakness if Xd. I started to use Sketch now and I can't stop using the software. Now, do I believe Adobe will fix Xd to challenge Sketch yes but the longer they wait the tougher it will be for them.

So I ask - what's SO great about XD without responsive views? I don't get it. I still have to recreate all these screens!! Please tell me in what way it will really save me time.

I started hunting down a tool that would provide me with all the cool design functions if adobe I'm familiar with and unfavorably surprised when I found out XD does not come with auto resizing for different devices. I had to carefully pick a tool and learn it fast and was all ready to do it until I found it could not do this. What's the point??? It's one of my most important considerations!!!

Is this including constraints for components? I love how Sketch and Figma have resize/layout constraint properties on symbols/components.

I'm actually not referring to responsive layouts. I'm just asking for a dynamic background. So the background fills the whole screen in the website prototype instead being a box with boundaries on all sides. When defining the size of the webpage in Xd the background doesn't fill 100% of the screen, so it doesn't correspond with an authentic look like it would if I made it in Dreamweaver and previewed it in any browser.
