Design with Data
I remember, I have seen this presentation at Adobe MAX 2015. Where we can use dummy / Sample data for content such as Name, city, country etc (Please also think to add lorem ipsum dummy paragraph if possible).
I would love to know, is there any plan to integrate that concept in near future. Its a really great functionality and time consuming important feature for us.

We think you’re going to really, really dig the plugin integrations we’re making available later this year :)

Seeing this in the demo video is a bit frustrating as its one the image handling already works in the current release and I've been frustrated not being able to do the same with text content. I figured it wasn't possible yet but watching the video indicates the hooks are there (or at least were).
I sincerely hope this is a priority to make public soon, as i agree with the commenters below that this functionality is absolutely a game-changer feature. Please don't let handling text data get overlooked! :)

I'm curious as to what happened with this? The data tab shown at AdobeMAX 2015 was great -- it had both the ability add same data like Name, Price etc (similar to the Sketch plugin), but over a year on and still no mention of it. Whilst JSOn and drag and drop is nice, having quick and easy content template types available in XD (for use with repeated items) would be a real time saver.

Some of the ideas talked about in this category would be game changers. This would make XD my most important design tool. Real data is so key to being able to make the best UX decisions.
https://medium.com/bridge-collection/modern-design-tools-using-real-data-62d499e97482#.lhsv21y6dHow long until the "Data" button is available? It seems so useful. I would happily take some time to create txt files for the drag and drop of our data (until using JSON files is available)

it would be great to have third party plugins like craft so that we can dummy name address and images etc instead of writing and copy paste the dummy names

I find it cumbersome to use external tools to create or edit text data then drag, maneuver, and drop it on a Repeat Grid. Editing each element individually has drawbacks as well.
Say I need a series of headings, and copy blocks and so on--this requires multiple external list files with content sequenced to correlate properly.
I long for lightweight plain text or even spreadsheet editing inside XD.

I really like the idea of dropping in text files on repeating grids but right now I need a separate text file for each label (I think). Is there a way to create a list in Excel (or something) to make it easier to manage? You could even have images too. Thanks for a great program, looking forward to using it more and more.

I'd like a resource-panel that lets me generate or save randomized "lists" to apply to repeat grids. For example, I'd like to generate a list of random "states", "usernames", "street addresses" and "date stamps" that I can quickly apply to my repeat grid. I could also add my own .txt file lists to the panel so that I can quickly access them when building a prototype rather than having to find them on my desktop and drag them into XD.
I'd like to see this as a category in the symbols/asset library.

Closely related: https://adobexd.uservoice.com/forums/353007/suggestions/13779855-json-import-syncing (covers the "in the interim" part with local JSON files, rather than connecting to a live data API).

It would be a game changer if the tool could allow me to connect it to an API endpoint that returns live JSON data. Then mark the fields (text, etc) with the mapping to that data.
e.g.
myapi/get/user
returns:
{
name: "john",
age: 32,
job: "dancing robot"
}Then in XD I could mark a text field with User.name, User.age, User.job, and those would dynamically update with the api data.
Similar to our json import preview now, but being able to tag fields.
* Also in the interim dropping static json data / copy paste so it can map those keys would be helpful. But connect to live data would be amazing.

I love the drag text feature you created. It works great for a pre-existing text file. However, now my mind goes wild and would like to see auto text placed as temporary text for prototype demos. Similar to the way Craft did in Sketch.

Hi,
Thanks for your amazing works.
If you can support drag text right from browser or other context, it would be more powerful! -

Would like to see if dynamic data can be picked from live websites, excel sheets in design mode. Crafts by invision has a plugin which can do this along with other features.

Able to import a simple CSV file (locally) would be huge. I work with mostly SAsS design and projects. Having "realistic" numbers in mocks makes a big difference on both understanding and presenting the design.

Adding this to XD will definitely give them a strong push forward comparing with Craft, Sketch, or any other tool.
Let's move forward with this ... I want to quit photoshop and invisionapp. So help me to do that by adding this feature ASAP.

I'm especially interested in this feature as it is crucial to my flow. The ability to customize json data sets and randomize the data to account for both mins & max views inside of a design flow is essential to creating scalable interaction designs.

The ability to use data sources in table UI representations would set XD apart from its peers in an amazing way. xls, json, csv, any data formats would be a life saver for us UX designers in the web application space. charts and data visualizations would also be a super benefit. Most dashboards and applications require some sort of data visualization.

This was one of the defining reasons I'll move to use XD. The ability to save time by pulling data from spreadsheets/existing sites could really reduce the time spent mocking up our sites. Really stoked for this if its still on the roadmap.
