Hello everyone! I’m excited to announce that in XD 45 (released today 10/26), you will be able to import MP4 video into your XD designs.

To ensure platform compatibility and performance across desktop, web and mobile preview, your video must be:

MP4
H.264
AAC audio
under 15 MB
4K or under resolution.

Enjoy and we can’t wait to see what you create!

XD does not support Animated GIF, so if you are still looking for that, please start a separate request and vote on it.

    Would only make sense since its would be the only was to have micro-animations repeated...

    XD would greatly benefit from Video / Gif Playback capabilities

    have the ability to play videos in prototype mode. How would that work? in design mode one would make a box element, then drag and drop a video into that box just like one would with an image, and it automatically take a screenshot and places it in the box, there is also a unique video at the top left of the selected box on active state to inform the user there is a video in there (maybe with a further option to open a menu and select things like a qunie screenshot). In prototype mode when the box is active, the same menu appears at the top left of the box with more options like play as soon as loaded or play when a unique selected element is clicked on. Then in preview mode the video would play back.

    Embedding videos and animated GIFs would be vitally useful. I would make all my prototypes in XD if this capability existed. I currently have to use ProtoPie for this.

    Really need this!
    My work is in the video related field and it is really hard to show a prototype to the engineers and other stakeholders.

    Key Features that would improve my experience:
    - Ability to add a video file in a prototype
    - Ability to interact with the video (play stop etc.)
    - Adding youtube or other video by link

    If you already have a video example, let's say a motion graphic video or a commercial video, you are way to far into the process of prototyping. If you, on the other hand, have a stock video sample, this feature could be nice as for convincing the client. People that makes animatics therefore might disagree , that this freature isn't needed. I just dont think, that there are that many videoes that fits certain projects. On the other hand it might develop the stock images/video/vector/audio websites to have more video content, for content creators like myself.
