Import Videos & Animated GIFs to show in interactive preview

Support to import a video or animated GIFs to simulate animations or even playable video.

Hello everyone! I’m excited to announce that in XD 45 (released today 10/26), you will be able to import MP4 video into your XD designs.

To ensure platform compatibility and performance across desktop, web and mobile preview, your video must be:

MP4
H.264
AAC audio
under 15 MB
4K or under resolution.

Enjoy and we can’t wait to see what you create!

XD does not support Animated GIF, so if you are still looking for that, please start a separate request and vote on it.

    It would be nice to import both gif and mp4 files into xd to show animations

    Sad that the lack of the feature forces some of us designers to use Figma. Adobe XD is so much better but not being able to import animated GIFs is a dealbreaker.

    Please add this! Almost one year to add animated gifs? Even Powerpoint/Keynote can do this!

    .aep or .prproj are the best,
    .mp4 and gif at least.

    This is a super important thing. Although there are ways to visualize videos through Webexport pluggin, it would be amazing to just place a video or a gift and see it working on a preview.

    This one is an essential for me. I often use GIFs in app tutorial screens or troubleshooting screens. I have to use other tools for prototyping until this is part of XD.

    GIFs in components could be activated in a hover state would be a nice one too.

    It's a shame the GIF request (should be relatively simple) is bundled in with video (which imo is a much more difficult problem).

    This will make a prototype so much more realistic and allow us to communicate costly design decisions before they are developed. This is a fantastic feature for the design and development process, please implement this into Adobe XD!

    Adding Video in XD should be a priority. More and more sites are using video, don't get left behind.

    A video support feature is so important, for creative developers who want to create a dynamic user experience, that professionals will move to solutions that are capable of delivering this experience, as opposed to one that is limited to the linking of static content.

    This is a significant short coming.

    A hallmark of creators, is that we will develop solutions if the market does not offer them, so that we can bring our vision to life.
