Hello everyone! I’m excited to announce that in XD 45 (released today 10/26), you will be able to import MP4 video into your XD designs.

To ensure platform compatibility and performance across desktop, web and mobile preview, your video must be:

MP4
H.264
AAC audio
under 15 MB
4K or under resolution.

Enjoy and we can’t wait to see what you create!

XD does not support Animated GIF, so if you are still looking for that, please start a separate request and vote on it.

    Would love to be able to use a gif to simulate video playback.

    Would be even cooler you XD helped created the gif by importing the video into an artboard and selecting the playback time, with or without looping.

    you can use the pluging Anima to insert a video for the moment...
    Open XD, got o Plugings > Discover Plugings and search: Anima.

    This would be an extremely helpful addition. Even just animated GIF's if video is too much work so we can show clients roughly what the moving video would look like!

    I use XD to make a study material for kids every week. Since kids have more interest in moving pictures, I have to use gif. But XD cannont import gif and now I have to use Office ppt, not convenient but more functional

    Running into this video issue brought me to the one thing I've realized so far that I'm not able to do in XD -- it's the only wall I've hit so far. Please add this & remove the wall!

    It would be amazing to be able to import project files seamlessly between After Effects and XD, like how we now have the ability to share project files between Premiere Pro and AE, with the project file automatically updating in both programs when changes are made.

    Also, having alpha channel / transparency support for videos in XD would be sweet :)
