Animate individual elements separately (custom animation transitions / microinteractions)
Support for simple animation.
Example: Show/hide a slide or push menu
This would enhance a demo and engage prospects that are familar with common application patterns.
Reopening the feature request, based on feedback.

At a recent Xd Meet the Developers session, I put forward the ability to insert a gif (or maybe an animated WebM image, and allow stop/start on it). Other than the side and push menus mentioned in this thread, that might be enough to not weigh down the app with too heavy a feature?!?

What was once a feature I'd love to have, is now a feature I must have. This is the week of me finding another interactive design option because XD just won't cut it for these projects. So, so bummed to have to shove this program to the back burner but unfortunately, it's now a deal-breaker not to be able to animate anything other than entire page replacements.

The only reason why I do not use Adobe XD frequently is this missing feature of animations for carousel menus, tooglings, dropdowns etc.
Is Adobe already working on that VERY useful feature?

Please, this feature will work like Principle. A simple timeline.

Hey Adobe guys - are you reading these posts? Can we get some feedback from you on the future position of this tool? Here's the deal - and I think I may speak for a bunch of us on this specific thread. We like XD. We like the environment. We LOVE the potential is has. But right now, most of us have to stop using it mid-stream cause we have actual work to do. That is: we have to show animated transition states. We have to display rich text in a text box. We have to come up with a way to impress clients with more than static screens. How about a timeline - you're so good at timelines!
Please get XD to do more. We will follow. We really like this software - but the feature set is slim compared to other much less adept tools (InVision, I am looking at you). Please let us know you are taking this feedback and running with it.

I literally started a prototype and abandoned XD as a solution within 5 minutes because I could not do this. This is a basic feature that is needed for prototyping desktop applications.

As you (adobe XD development team) look at animation support please consider:
• Although animations for microinteractions and transitions are great, some of us need to prototype more involved features like video playback and maybe even positioning sprites on the screen based on user interactions.
• Video playback should be supported while offline and viewing through the XD iPhone app. Simple links to Vimeo or YouTube aren't useful for me.
• The ideal use of video would be to allow the option to loop it or play and stop. An enhanced feature would be to allow the playback to loop around a portion of the video (from 4 to 6 seconds) and an option to "go to and play" video at say 10 seconds.
• Although GIF support is great, I agree that Animate CC support (with interaction) would be better.

As an UX designer I would like to use the DX software to communicate animation uses to our software development department.
The feature to animate individual elements within an artboard will be a huge asset for communicating (custom)webcontrol animation behavior.

Yes, this is a MUST needed feature!

Micro interactions are something that I need to be able to build and describe to my customers and developers. They would make the model come alive in a nice way. This can be done by accepting animated gif files a a part of the design or (even better) bringing a simplified Flash / Animate CC functionality to manipulate vector elements inside XD.
Take a look at FLinto for Mac for instance: https://www.flinto.com/mac

Came here trying to find this feature! I just knew I was overlooking the functionality. I feel slightly less crazy but I hope it's in the works! I would love to be able to open a menu or change a slider image without sliding the entire page over. So many sites offer on-screen interactions without refreshing the entire page that it would be nice to demo this to a client first hand without code. Usually I take my prototypes and plop it into a dummy site to make it interactive but I have a feeling XD is going to keep me well within the world of design and out of the world of development. ;)

Yes! Please copy Principle as much as you can. It's GREAT!!

Couldn`t find it here so far:
Please insert as soon as possible a drop drown menu (that "pushes" the content below downside automatically when you clicked on the "drop down arrow").The typical IPhone on-off-switch would be very useful, too.

I could almost say this is "the one" feature Adobe XD is lacking and, once it's there, omg, there's no stopping to it!
Having the ability to create "local" animations on a given screen is very important for me. Something very basic, like layer masks and motion tween would cover it all! -

Agreed. Having the ability to animate actions would make XD prototyping even better than it already is, and it's already a fantastic tool.

What I am searching in any good high-fi prototype tools is a content based interaction and not a page only interaction prototype tool.
Lets say there are 3 blogposts, I would like to make 1 new screen where I make a detailed page. When I click on a different blogpost in the prototype, I would like to get the same screen but with the content of the selected blogpost.
Another example is swiping content. I would like to say that 1 selection on the page is grouped content which changes when I swipe it withoud changing the hole page. This gives me the posibility to swipe newsfeed and below I can swipe newsposts.
