Animate individual elements separately (custom animation transitions / microinteractions)
Support for simple animation.
Example: Show/hide a slide or push menu
This would enhance a demo and engage prospects that are familar with common application patterns.

Reopening the feature request, based on feedback.

Just copy Principle and be done with it.

System may be so simple...give us ability to set delays for individual elements so auto-animate may consider them...that would be great.

Is this ever going to be implemented as the feature is under review for 2 years (!) now?

It will be great if this could work like smart objects in photoshop. I mean creating this animations no matter how many artboards, export the file as a component or something and link it back into a project in Xd, if changes are needed we can edit the linked file (just like smart objects or linked files in InDesign), this could open the possibility to trigger animations when they scroll into view, by tap, etc in only one artboard.

Not sure if I'm asking for the same thing or not, but when I make an auto-animated state of a component, I can't then make that a trigger to change pages or something. Example: Animated hamburger menu.

This feauture is a MUST! we lack of animation possibilities
The same timeline system like adobe flash of after effects
1) Animations inside a moviclip/compositions (moviclips like flash or compositions like after effects)
This way we can make small loop animations of elements that can be trigger2) General timeline animations for all the elements just like invision studio has, so we can use smart animations or timeline animations.
3) Animation trigger/controllers on the timeline like Adobe flash (play/stop/change scene WIHTOUT ACTION SCRIPT)
This way we can decide when to play the animation or stop the animation in that screen of the prototype
e.g. Start the prototype, the animation plays, when the animation reach frame 60 stop (so it doesnt loop) and change the scene, so it will play a smart animation/transition to next scene -

Animate elements as soon as they scroll into view

I think protopie would be another great app to look for an example of some of the microinteractions that can be done. Right now, you have to import it into there to be able to do this level of animation.

Just take a look at proto.io. I think they tackled component states and animations in a way that cannot be done better. Waiting for this feature to come now ever since Adobe XD launched, I really don't understand why the mentioned tool is the ONLY ONE of all the UX tools out there that has such a feature. As a UI designer I don't want to copy-paste or even recreate the whole view just because of a simple state change / animation whatsoever.

Can you please change "Snap" easing property name to something that is widely known or a market standard. e.g Spring. There is no such equivelant in CSS or UIViewanimation in Xcode. Otherwise you will be blackboxing XD.
Also please display transition and animationspeed and other details in Design Spec mode for a much better hand-off experience.

Because of lack of enough canvas size, this should be implemented to limit artboard amount (because one animation needs several duplicated artboards …)

I just added a similar idea suggesting auto-animate between component states that would mimic CSS transitions so there could be unlimited transitions

I think one way to do this, using the component states, would be add a toggle on the pieces within the component to include that piece in the trigger area. If I could create a large component in various states, but only have a small trigger area, that would allow a lot more flexibility. Maybe even have several choices like, “no trigger” “trigger only in this state” (so a slide out menu could stay out), “always trigger”. And get nesting hover states to work.

OMG The struggle to replicate this with "component states layers" to recreate this. We need a simple way to create animations with interactions like collapse or Lightbox concepts. Theres a few jQuery Ui interactions that are complicated to do on XD. I got to agreed with @Matt Keynote do this, and is a concept on (Flash / Animator) or even (After Effects) to recreate this for prototype propose. We need to use components or a lot of canvas to make this idea work and is not perfect either, is just a work around. Would be nice to use the same Idea of components "hover state" functionality in a similar way for animations. Using the keyframes idea is acceptable since we already use this Ui on After Effects and Animator, so most of us already know this. But of course, if you can figure out a way to integrate it the best way you see fit, not necessary the keyframe concept but I wouldn't mind if that's the only way to make int work. Hey even Photoshop have FRAMES since forever to create animations. Please consider this. I can't either create the animation outside on other App like Animator and export it and import it to XD but the animations formats available are not support it. Example, Gif, Video, swf or any other. We want to stay in the Adobe Creative Cloud environment and avoid using Sketch to get this done or hell, go back to Keynote or Quartz, gosh! Well, thnx for all the Improvements so far we achieve since was a BETA. Im a happy user, but animations and transitions on independent elements nowadays is a must tool or functionality to actually create what thiss app was made for, User Experience. Thnx to everyone that voted for it. I hope doesn't take too long. We struggle to do workarounds. Nice day. Here I add a simple concept about what I'm talking about. One more thing, I love XD :-) thanks to create this great tool, make Creative Cloud worth paying for.

This would be great, sad to say but true - I think KEYNOTE is a great example on how to chain animations together as well...

In prototype mode, elements should have individual animation properties if the user so desires. Offsetting animation times to create more realistic cascade effects would be super useful.

Currently there exists no option to use custom animations as part of a static artboard without exporting it to XD, and since XD doesn't allow exporting artboard animations to gif format creating custom animated icons is pointless. I want to show how a loading screen would look as part of a kiosk UI but the "loading" animation I created can't be added to the kiosk screen without the animation getting broken.

perhaps nested artboards?

This is URGENTLY needed. Xd goes towards matching CSS properties. Yet Xd still lacks this capability to separate elements while being able to edit/animate them on their own. Sort of how a pre-comp works on AfterEffects or even maybe just like a CSS isolated class. Please, let's have this! ...Best! =)
