Change owner of cloud document
A member of our team is leaving. The only way we can change ownership of her files is to have her download them and share them locally. This is fine and all but it breaks all the links to the document so I have to go into the various places we share the link, like JIRA, and add new links.
I would prefer that we could just change ownership of the file to another team member.

Oh wow, we haven't done this yet? Guess it is actually time to move to Figma like my team has been begging me. This is a HUGE headache.
Not even the need to change the owner but allow multiple people to publish an update to the existing link. I work in a massive corporation and we depend on the comments in links for project annotations and all of that is lost if you don't use the same link.
Our workaround is as follows:
File > Save As (give it a new name).
You're now the new owner.
Invite others to edit.
Obviously not ideal, but it gets the job done. I can see this being a hassle if you have a big team to re-invite though.
This is especially painful for our Design System we built in XD. If the person who owns it leaves this will be a gigantic amount of work to update everything.
It's honestly the single reason I'm thinking about switching to Figma.
We need cloud documents not to be owned by people but by the company/team. So that you can easily share it with changing staff, freelancers external designers etc. without having to deal with ownership issues. And making sure there is continuity of work regardless of who works on the designs.
This is a critical feature.
This is a painpoint in my team and we have waited long enough.
For any new project based on the detail interaction that is needed - we have moved either to Axure or Figma. Unfortunately our design system is in XD and we continue to pay for the seat - as we cannot transfer the ownership.
We have finally bit the bullet and started to investigate to move the design system source to Figma (https://xd2sketch.com/converter/xd-to-figma). Will post this group on wether we are successful or we continue to pay the ransom to Adobe!
This is very important! I need it

Wait, if you use XD Cloud, and someone leaves your company, their work is lost forever?
What if you have everyone save their files in the same team directory?
Must have. ASAP please!
Agreed! This is critical now. I can't believe this isn't fixed. This is going to jeopardize our entire project. We have a very living document with changing owners. We're going to have to move the entire project to Figma now...

With corona, we have a lot of changes on our worker's roles and people working around the company... right now we have the need to transfer almost 200 different files to other people so we can continue updating the development links and what not... but there's no way to do this on a clean fashion. The only way is to store a local document, zip it sends it and opens them on the new owner account... creates new development links, updates documentation, let the developers know that they cannot use the old links any more... It's just a crazy amount of extra work, time and money because of this.
Hope this gets updated soon, but as I see... the amount of votes is relatively low compared to other issues of XD that is, maybe, more focused for people using this on a smaller scale...
When are we getting this sorted outtttttttttttt?!!!

This is a critical need - with multiple designers on the same project, transferring ownership AND allowing for multiple owners of the same document is a MUST.

Our team REALLY needs to same feature to transfer ownership for XD Cloud files. Please fix Adobe!
it's very useful and important when file create (owner) resign his job.

I feel like something catastrophic will need to happen for this feature to get implemented. It is ESSENTIAL. Just because this doesn't have 10,000 votes like the flashy "add gifs" feature doesn't mean it shouldn't be prioritized.
When my team talks about how "XD isn't finished," this is the main go-to example. (The other example being how only one person can update links without breaking them). I know it's not a cool box feature, but it really does hold back from being able to recommend XD in general, and definitely holds back from recommending the Cloud storage in specific which I know Adobe seems to be keen to push right now.
If you put up a gofundme to pay an engineer to do this, I bet it would be funded in one day.
We've built many design systems where we can not change the ownership of the files. Which has meant we have had to keep multiple adobe account active, which against Omnicom Group process and adds additional cost to the business. My business need this flexibility to change ownership on our design system when employees leave or change their name.
