Infinite Canvas

One of the main reasons we use Sketch is because of the infinite canvas. For large web projects, there can easily be 60+ artboards at 1920px width, which would run into the edge of XD's canvas. Please make it infinite - it's also very annoying trying to zoom into an artboard at the edge of the canvas, since you can't center the artboard in the view properly.

This feature is really important. Why no improvement since 4 years?

Main reason why I am sticking with Sketch-- no infinite canvas in XD!

I would like multiple canvases within one file so I can have different userflows within the same file, but not have them all visible at the same time.

Agreed! This is way up there on the list of most dumb/annoying things about XD. I'd be okay with a limited canvas such as Illustrator but at least make it large enough for a complete site!!

Not having multiple pages and then managing multiple files is the worst!!

I am working on a very large project and now require 5 sperate files. It would life much simpler to have either an infinite canvas or pages.

Hi there Adobe folks... Infinite Canvas is a very much needed requirement for the tool selection for our group as is pretty much the majority of XD out there. If there is some plan on making this happen in Q1/Q2 of this year, please make an announcement soon. If not, you are going to continue to lose market share.

Hope this comes soon especially since the latest Co-Editing function. If more than one person is working in the same file the projects are large and the amount of screens are high. Then the complex Co-Editing function makes no sense with such s small canvas. Wonder why Adobe first implement Co-Editing without enough space to use this proper.

Dear Adobe (getting back on Corey's comment),

    1) I think every designer/team has their own workflows, so give them as much as you can (ideally infinite) and don't worry about unwieldy documents ... if it works for them, it works ;)

    2) If you come from Sketch like many of us, you use it, get used to it, and don't want to miss it (this is true for canvas and pages) ... I think this is a major dealbreaker for many professionals/teams to switch to XD, hence a missed revenue opportunity ;) ... also consider that the competition isn't sleeping and makes progress as well

    3) How many depends on multiple things, among others: resolution, complexity, interaction, pages feature, logic feature for flows, version history, ... and even the way you organize your artboards on the canvas (its no fun at all to cramp everything in order to fit it)

    4) Let's go with an example from our team and you can do the maths:
    - Desktop > 1920*1200
    - Complex CRM product > dozens of screens and modules
    - Prototyping of flows and interaction with logic jumps (decision points), which often requires duplicate screens and whole flows
    - Alternatives/iterations

    5) As some people have mentioned here already: pages that can be connected for prototyping might help even more than the canvas size (unless there are limited as well :D), but I would go for both

Hope that helps to grasp the underlying problem ... bottom line from us: it's very helpful for mid-sized and crucial for larger projects

I know i've seen a request since 2016 regarding an infinity canvas. But adobe has no response to it. 4 years past and still no action to improve.

We all work on a large projects and ideally we would like to have infinity canvas to place our artboards and to make our prototype as smooth as possible. With the limitation on canvas size, we are not able to do many interactions as an overall website 100% complete.

It's 2020, and why are you still limiting us?

We work on massive product design projects and need an infinite canvas. Our team switched to XD but was very surprised that when we copied over our screens from sketch 1) We ran out of room with the canvas immediately with just one product and 2) Graphics, text, etc are all jacked up into slices and do not translate well especially masks and background shadows. Why is this? This is a HUGE mistake for trying to convert Sketch users to XD. We can't just start from the ground up. We have to be able to take existing work and import it over in XD and have it be a 1:1 conversion without the limitations and issues. Is this a feature that will roll out soon in your roadmap this coming 2020? Please inform at your earliest convenience. Thank you so much and appreciate your help! :)

Our design team won't be able to switch from Sketch to XD until infinite canvas and pages are implemented. It's not usable for the work we do with such limited space in one document. You can fit a lot of artboards in as it is but it's still not really enough to satisfy the design process. For instance, if a designer is using spatial relationships to map out concept clusters, where they might create rows and trees of iterations of screens on the canvas, it is quite limited because they might not really plan ahead and just run into the sides of the canvas on a 50-75 screen iteration exercise. Pages are extremely helpful to capture day-over-day iterations or divergent concepts so they can be reviewed quickly by flipping through the pages. The canvas and pages are not about quantity of space, they are about the flexibility to map out the thinking as it progresses — externalizing it in an organized way to guide future thought.

OMW. When I had to start using XD, I realised it has this limiation. I was literally shocked. LOL.

Why not just have both and infinite canvas AS WELL AS --- wait for it ---- PAGES where you can group artboards by UX flows! Gasp! Then at least if you want to use pages to organise yourself, you can or not, your choice.

When I used Sketch, I used Pages for UX process flows like this:
e.g. Onboarding (5 screens), Login (8 screens), Home Feed (app tab 1, 5 screens), Profile (app tab 2, 6 screens), etc.

An infinite canvas is an absolute must for any professional XD project. I was shocked today after encountering this limitation. But even worse, Adobe has been ignoring this massive problem for more than three years! I thought XD's target audience are professional designers, not hobbyists?

I also miss information about this drastic limitation on the German Adobe XD support pages! Dear Adobe Support people: That's how you scare away even longtime loyal customers!

Ok, maybe implement this in 2020!?! Make it from amateur to professional size! Or is it not an app for professionals? But the feature-request is not in the backlock …. So it will be real in 2024? But I think I will go on pension then …

Yes, please improve this. Just started working for a new startup, they have tons of screens, there's no way I can fit all current screens of the product into the current canvas size :/

No more space to work.... Please do it soon. Meanwhile think about link between files as well as it will reduce the weight of a single file.

I really need this. I'm doing a project, it's very complex so it has many options and many many views. I already maxed out my working space.

An infinite canvas would be wonderful

I maxed out the work space. Please ADD this feature ASAP. I rearranged everything to save space but I can not do it anymore. Any hacks or plugin that can do this? Or should I consider other software perhaps. I create enterprise web applications that use hundreds of screens. Thanks!
