It would be very cool if we could use RegEx to check the value entered and trigger specific components/artboards with it.

You'd rival Axure rp if you added this functionality. And of course we'd stop asking for it, so there's that too.

Under review since 2016? I sure would like to be able to input text in 2020.

This is a must have ! Without it - it severely limits the usefulness as a real prototyping tool!

I need fillable form fields so I can test for error rate. It would also be helpful to have things like checkboxes, radio buttons and dropdowns.

I work at a software company where I design the software and, once customers have seen and played with a prototype, we get full dev work done on the product. As it stands, having a customer only be able to click certain items (e.g. dropdown lists, radio buttons, etc) isn't enough for a good feel for the usability. We need them to be able to enter text too (not save, of course - at least not for the next session). As it stands, because of this, we often land up having to dev a semi-functional prototype for our test group customers to play with for decent user experience testing. Being able to have text fields where they can enter and edit text would save us a massive amount of time.

I would like to add this feature to the search box in order to understand what users' are typing during the usability test.

I need this feature to presentation for make the easy work.

It's been 4 years and XD is now Slightly better than just prototyping in powerpoint. Way to go team. lol
Obvious sarcasm. Without things like allowing one component to change another, text input of Some sort, and basic if statements, it's really just not much better than powerpoint.

As a UX team, we are deciding which prototyping tool to move forward with. XD is a strong contender however if we want to convert long term we need the ability to user test with text. Whatever you can do is much appreciated.

Axure has a vast opportunities on this indeed.
