Commenting and making annotations in design OR on shared prototype online
it's pretty self-explanatory.. you can give feedback by commenting and making annotations on the prototype, if someone posts something you get an email with a summarium of all the feedback or you get notified via creative cloud.. there could be settings where you want to be notified and if instantly or like 1 hour later!
this is valuable to me because it makes the communication easier, which otherwise would lead to tons of emails going back and forth.
With our November release, you can now add comments to shared prototypes! Comments are contextual to the artboard. Please check it out and let us know what you think. Feature improvements should be suggested as new ideas in UserVoice.
Thanks!

The feature is nOT complete, we need commenting within the design, like Figma, not just on the web prototype!

Comments are great, but annotations are more important. it's is a basic feature for cummunicating a design with dev

ONCE YOU HAVE DESIGNED SAY A BUTTON ON A PROFILE IT BE USEFUL IF YOU COULD ADD REAL COMMENTS TO THAT BUTTON TO HELP A DEVELOPER. DEVELOP THE DESIGN QUICKER. EXAMPLE I AM BUILDING SOMETHING AT THE MOMENT. I HAVE THE DESIGN BUT I WANT TO COMMENT ON EACH ELEMENT, SECTION AND INDIVIDUAL BUTTONS TO TELL THE DEVELOPER WHAT THE FEATURE OR BUTTON ETC IS DOING OR SHOULD TAKE THE USER TOO.

I would love annotations, but for the designing process as well as the prototyping!

Comments are helpful, but annotations would be even better to have. Really limits explaining some detailed interactions and functionality.

Hmmm... It would appear the "Feature-Completed" is not fully completed. Only the commenting has been implemented. What of Designer Annotations (Intended for developers)?
This would need to be an additional layer of functionality created for designers to communicate the functionally the design.
Any status on this feature?

Although this initial feature is done, here are some related ideas that you all may be interesting in voting or commenting on:
* Add pointers & other annotations along with comments: https://adobexd.uservoice.com/forums/353007/suggestions/17418442-allow-commenters-to-visually-annotate-the-design
* Attach comments to a specific location/object on the artboard: https://adobexd.uservoice.com/forums/353007/suggestions/17017063-able-to-comment-on-a-specific-part-of-the-prototype
* Add annotations in Design mode (in the XD desktop app): https://adobexd.uservoice.com/forums/353007/suggestions/16974259-annotations-in-design-mode -

How do you add comments to artboards?

The current commenting facility, proposed above, is very similar to sharing PDFs for feedback. I can see its uses in getting feedback on prototypes, but not related to the much used annotating methodology used by designers.
This wouldn't be something I would expect to see when sharing or testing a prototype, but is a layer of information for those wanting the detail of how it all works (especially the devs). A typical example would be the classic wireframe where numbered annotation dots overlay the design and the annotations sit to the side of the canvas.
So, can Adobe imagine a workflow where the file is packaged up as a PDF of canvasses carrying an annotation layer? Better still, could the clickable prototype carry an annotation layer that the user can switch on or off – possibly a feature only available on desktop monitors where space allows?

Hi Elanie,
Would you please show me how to make comments on online prototype? Because I don't see any feature or icons to do that. Thanks

+1 for annotations
Like the user feedback / comments with contextual numbers, I would love to see a toggle-able set of annotations per artboard where the user could annotate a wireframe/design and allow the developer/designer to understand the intended functionality

This is so important! As of now, I'm having to work in XD, then export PNG and import into another prototyping app JUST because the other app has client and team commenting available. This would cut my cost of the other prototyping app and I could stay right in my currently paid Adobe subscription.

It would be amazing to be able to write all the annotations next to the artboard in the design view, and have them appear in the the prototype view as well. It would be a huge time saver to write the annotations as we work, without having to wait until the prototype phase. Also, if these notes could be classified into client facing and internal that would be great. A comments field in the prototype notes view where clients could put feedback would be awesome as well

I'm the Chief of Frontend, and It would save a ton of exporting/emailing to be able to annotate my designer's files in-line.
Having both general comments and positionable annotation bubbles is a MUST.

I could not agree more. I would consider using XD if it organized the entire workflow around the UX. That's kind of the point of great UX design, isn't it?
