Please, please, please, this would make my life so much better. A left hand drawer/ popup/ tooltip/ dropdown etc... with basic animation and global interactions.... That would be the dream!

Say I need to add a side bar. And I create a separate side bar and add it in whichever screen I need it. For example, when the menu icon is clicked the sidebar is displayed.

I came looking for a decent drop-down only to find that Xd doesn't have this. I was frustrated with Axure because even though it has an interactive dropdown control, it doesn't allow rounded corners. I'm surprised to see no decent prototyping app that takes care of this. (and UXpin and other online apps are not good enough in many other ways).

This is a fantastic idea! I completely agree that totally separate artboards for things like dropdowns, modals, etc. is annoying, cluttering, and cumbersome. This is a great way to alleviate some of that.

This is crazy important to make you a competitor to InVision + Sketch. I can't tell you how much of a pain it is to wizard partial overlays with individual screenshots.

Hey! In my prototype, i wanted to add a search at the top of the screen but I don't want it to be visible all the time so just like expanding the app surface on the bottom I wish that feature would work for the top as well. that way I can hide the search bar and it will slide down when I need it.

As I just finished going back and updating 4 'child' art boards after I updated the master and then saw this post and thought, oh yes please!!!

It would be nice to link to a group of layers on the current artboard. E.g. to popup a modal window activated by a button. The link could show/hide the group of layers to simulate the action.
Now you have to create a new artboard only to expand a submenu or modal window.

Yes, this would make my workflow so much faster and easier. Now I Have to duplicate an entire artboard and add an overlay and then prototype it. Please release this feature ASAP. Thanks! :)

It would be useful to superpose artboards like layers to create interactive things in the design : for exemple, a date picker, a scrollable widget on a taskbar (in case of OS design)

Agreed. This should be first and foremost on the todo list.
Dropdown menus are basic.
State buttons too.

Overlays is a critical function for designers. Hope this is a priority in the next update. Until then I will continue to use Invision. It´s a shame since I really like Xd a lot.

Great idea. This would also help when translating a prototype.

Totally agree on this one! Atm I'am copying the whole page to a new board and make the pop-up modal or menu show on the new page. Not optimal at all.
