Turn on grids separately for each artboard
I'm a new user who just started a UX/UI bootcamp, and unfortunately (or fortunately) the video guides are already outdated. One thing I found very strange is that in the older versions you could have an individual grid layout for each art board, but now it looks like it's all or nothing, though it seems you still can individually change the square or or column variables of each grid overlay on each artboard separately.
This makes no sense. Say that I'm building a UI for for mobile and website, they would definitely be using a different grid overlay types and since the size, resolution, and type of screen is different, but currently it forces you to use the same grid overlay across all artboards. I would love to see the ability to select individual grid overlays for unique artboards in the project.
Current scenario:
- phone artboard
- web artboard
turns on grid
* both boards use either column or square grid overlays.
Wanted scenario:
- phone artboard
- web artboard
turns on grid
* phone artboard is set to square grid overlay.
*** web artboard is set to column grid overlay.
Thanks for the clarification! This makes sense, and I’ve edited the title to reflect your request.

Yes, I think that individual grids for each separate artboards seems like a very natural and intuitive way for the process of adding grids to work. As a new user I was surprised that XD does not work this way already. Would be an excellent capability to add to a program that has thus far been a pleasure to use. Thanks.

Or I'm designing a web tool with a persistent top nav and tool sidebar (it's a legacy element). I would love for the viewport have it's own layout grid that I can toggle without the entire screen's layout grid.
Figma does it! You can too!

Often in designing components I have a smaller grid on those artboards than I do doing layout comps with the individual components. Having these all in the same document is a struggle right now.
Being able to turn off the grid also entirely on an artboard would be nice.

I want the ability for each artboard to have a different type of grid overlay.
Current scenario:
1. phone artboard
2. web artboard*turns on grid
** both boards use either column or square grid overlays.Wanted scenario:
1. phone artboard
2. web artboard*turns on grid
** phone artboard is set to square grid overlay.
*** web artboard is set to column grid overlay.Does that make more sense?
