Cmd select should direct select even when you're in a tool (InDesign)
When you're in a tool other than Select, you can't quickly select another layer/object unless you jump out of the tool first. In InDesign, you can hold CMD while you're in the tool to allow selecting. CMD is already established as the key to use when selecting within a group.

So wish this feature was included or could set it as a keyboard shortcut. I didn’t realise how handy this feature was in InDesign and Illustrator.

From my long history using ID and AI, I keep getting frustrated trying to do this!!!! We need some way to quickly switch to the move / select tool without exiting the current tool entirely.
