Switch between grid and flow view for Share for Development
There has been a recent change to the share for Dev view. We relied on that view to express flows. Now it is in a grid similar to Zeplin. I get the change, but not the removal. It would be great to be able to switch between the two. This way individual assets are still quickly accessed and the flow can also be expressed. Our devs were looking at the linking and able to view the overall flow. This was determined to be extremely helpful.

Meanwhile, I'm staying late at work on Friday night to rearrange my xd document with dozens of artboards, so it can satisfy the ridiculousness of this new feature, so I can share my spec....

Hi Adobe and Arun,
Do you know how frustrating it is trying to get a birds perspective of the userflow with 1000 artboards when they are re-stacked and suddenly presented one after the other with no correspondence to how it's supposed to look in XD?
Please bring back the original view or allow for both ASAP!

This grid view is honestly a step backwards in terms of helping view the projects in terms of features and usability. Bring back the original view or allow for both!!!!!

The update is totally ridiculous, who in the world thought of this, and why didn't anyone test this before releasing such an anomaly? I can't understand how anyone from that whole team can think "hey, what a great idea". WHY??????????

Hi Arun,
Our developers, stakeholders, really needed the previous specifications view. This grid view is honestly a step backwards in terms of helping view the projects in terms of features and usability.
We enjoyed have the ability to layout the screens in our own organized manner that we developed for branching the gap between design & development. We also used this organization style to show clients progress on the project and to show how big certain features are. With a grid view that is now completely lost, and the linked screens feature don't really do anything helpful for us.
I have attached an example of how we grouped features and how that compares to the grid view.I am not saying to get rid of the grid, just make it an option instead of being forced on us.
Thanks!

Yes! Please do this. Bring back the original view or allow for both.

1. The new preview link shows the screens in a grid. This creates more problems than it solves—as at the moment there is no way to order those screens. (see attached)
2. Before, even if the feature didn't work, I would just look at the overview of all those artboards in order to see the sitemap (this is before doing any prototyping).

I agree for the ability to switch between grid and previous structure view

So, why has the design specs index changed so that it's impossible to understand the actual design? With this new grid the link to XD is totally broken and the view doesn't match the artboard setup. What a mess. And as usual there's no way of rolling back. Fed up.

I would say bring back the old one, but leave this version also as a plus.

It's a nice idea with the grid. But my view is divided on section. So an absolute must that I need the old view again. It has to be possible to switch between the old and the new (grid) view.

Seeing the flow and connections was extremely helpful to our developers as the file was intentionally designed in a hierarchal and logical way that could be easily understood by viewing all screens in a flow instead of a grid. Making both of these views available instead of forcing us to use grid view would be much much better!

This will change the entire way we present to our clients and handoff to developers.
We have projects with hundreds of screens and need to be able to communicate the user flow and how one relates to another.
The new grid view just isn't an option so we're going to have to scramble with our existing projects to find an alternative to the grid view which is an unorganized data dump.
Would love to hear how the community plans to solve the problem that was created by this "upgrade".

Please bring back the spec view with the flow lines, devs and clients understand a project way better when they can see a high level view of the flow of a project and when there are 100+ art boards the new grid system is very confusing to navigate

Grid view lacks several features that the previous flow view provided:
1. User organisation, like hierarchy and grouping through layout is lost.
2. Flow visualisation (that connection view in the grid is not a valid replacement)Any serious project will require some sort of organisation, as we do work with a fair number of artboards, we do spend some time to layout artboards in the most meaningful way
This layout work allows us to visually communicate the structure and flow of an app. with the grid view this work is lost. It's a big loss for designers and dev.
