Replace group with Component

It would be nice to be able to replace a group with a component. Here is a common use case: An artboard has been duplicated several times, and there is a change to the copy. The copy group is made into a component on one artboard, but the other artboards still have the groups. Being able to drop a symbol onto a group would quickly replace the grouped content with the component, which could then be updated universally. Additionally, if you could select multiple groups and have every group in the selection be replaced with a symbol, it would be very useful.

    Yes, I agree. Sketch as this feature and it's a beautiful thing. Logical and usable.

    Yes, please! I have just started using XD after seeing all the cool features demonstrated on sessions at Adobe Max. I am sooooo missing the "Replace with" (right-click) feature in Sketch. I'm cleaning up files transferred over from Sketch in XD and not having that feature adds several steps.

    Yeah same thoughts, this will be really cool feature to improve the productivity as sometimes I forget to create a component while converting a wireframe and this becomes really hectic to do it manually also its frustrating as well, I work as a full time UI designer and have lots of projects ongoing and with this issue sometime I skip my deadline which is very annoying. Hope to get this feature in next update.

    Could be a group, or a single object. In any case, workflows could be:

    select object(s) > right-click > replace with component > choose from component list
    select object(s) in layer list > (same as above)

    Seconding DBL's comment, this could be generalized to be "replace with whatever's in the clipboard"

    Sketch has a way of doing this. Was praying XD had it. Now I have to deal with replacing one by one, what a pain.

    If I have to use a component for number of design elements in a file, I have to drag the component from the Assets panel and re-position it on the artboard to match the coordinates of the design element. I have to also resize the instance of the component after positioning it. Please add a feature which will allow the designer to right click on all the design elements in a file and bulk edit it by replacing it with the desired component.

    We need this. Also the ability to right click > replace contents with whats in your clipboard.
