Overset text alert when text is not selected
It would be nice to have the same alert you get from Indesign regarding Overset text. Content is equally as important as design/prototyping in most projects so if there's no alert that indicates something's wrong before publishing a link for review, it just creates more room for error. The same reason applies to why it was needed in Indesign, really.
I’m leaving this open for now, but just as a heads up, there’s an overset text alert on selection of area text. https://twitter.com/elainecchao/status/1128363094760132609?s=20

I just upvoted this today (Oct 2021). I see your comment from 2019, and want to answer -- I'd love to see it as a subtle alert in the design phase and a huge when before exporting.
In the past few days, in a project with multiple people editing, text is being added to a text box or it has been resized and text that used to be visible is now overset but there is no way to tell, unless you have that exact text box selected. As a result, we have sent our client layouts with text accidentally missing.
Indesign has a subtle way to show it during design but will give you a big error to override when you export as pdf or try to package.

Yes, please Adobe XD! We definitely miss some text features like this, as InDesign has.

Definitely think this could be more obvious, the small dot is easily missed. I also have to click on each text box to check if its overset. Would it not be better to have some kind of indication of offset text whether a text box is selected or not?

Thanks Elaine, this is good, but it could be so much better.
In the current implementation the dot doesn't make the issue obvious enough, the dot within the circle is too small and there's no color indicating an error. This could be fine for a user that already knows about this, but new users will have a hard time realizing that's what that dot is intended for, if they even notice it.

A visual indicator when text flows outside of the bounds of the text box should suffice. It could work just like it does on InDesign, which displays a little red square with a plus sign if the text exceeds the text box... See attached image for reference.
An alert when attempting to share for review or development could also help avoid sharing a design with text out of bounds.

I wish there's a way to track them so it's easy to find where the overset text is located. It's helpful to have a notification somewhere to note that there's an overset as you're working and especially helpful if an actual modal alert comes up as you export or share for review.

There is a small icon that shows in text boxes with overset text in Indesign. Also, I would expect to see the alert when shared for review or development such as publishing the prototype or creating a pdf
