Organize assets panel objects (symbols/components/colors/character styles) into folders
Would love to organize symbols into folder for easy accessibility. I spend too much time looking through symbols into one library.
Dear XD Community -
I’m happy to share that as part of XD 44, we have delivered the long awaited assets organization feature 🎉. So now you can flexibly groups your assets to help you organize, navigate and find your assets much faster.
This feature will allow you to:
1. Create unlimited groups and sub-groups for all your assets
2. Easily move assets between groups by drag-n-drop or using the move dialog
3. Custom Reorder your groups
4. Publish linked libraries with groups
5. Sort your document assets panel by name
To learn more about this feature check: https://helpx.adobe.com/xd/help/work-with-assets-and-libraries-xd.html
Please give it a try and let us know what you think.
Thanks,
Sherif

In larger projects where I have a large number of assets I have to scroll to find the assets because it's a long list.
I like the way sketch allows you to put assets in nested groups by using the "/". It's especially useful for design systems where you have a few variations of the same component.

Yes, this is very important, especially if you work on a big projects with a lot of screens and components. It's strange that this request doesn't have more votes!

Could you add feature that would let you group colors?

A MUST HAVE without any doubt ! How can you do a DS without this??

Essential into a serious tool. ;)

I have a lot of components in my DS and now its a mess :(

Absolutely. I find myself just copying and pasting components from other artboards simply because it’s easier and faster than trying to find it in them in the library.

The ability to create folders, a title for the folder and place designated symbols & components in that folder.
Especially when we use Atomic design it will be A LOT easier to use and very organize as well, that way XD shows it today is not helpful at all.
Like BUTTON folder for all button symbols and then inside, as the sketch does.
This would definitely help to organize and build a library of assets and a good DSM.
I think it is today the only thing that holds people to move from Sketch to XD

Yes, the ability to group colors/swatches, so its easy to change the color of an asset. Lets say you have different shades of the same color. I did a quick mockup. This way your assets panel don't get overloaded with colors either.

Why oh WHY doesn't Xd have the ability to use folders to group together components? If they had a feature like Illustrator's folders that would make life sooooo much easier!

Agreed!

This would be amazing if it were added!
In addition to allowing folders within an asset type ( Colors, Character Styles, Components) I would suggest:
- UI be updated to allow for toggle view of assets when clicking on heading. (e.g. clicking "Colors" would expand/collapse the list of colors) see attachment: color-toggle.png
- Multi-select assets adds "...Add to Group" option. see attachment: add-to-group.png
- Sort assets by alpha -

i want XD to recognize that i've made a group/folder of related components and offer them to me when i say-- right-click on said component.
This would be helpful for iterating with component options (does v1 or v2 work better here?), but most especially helpful for those nested components where you're likely to do frequent overrides, like status or badge icons.

As we add dozens of components to our style library, this would be immensely helpful to organize them like this. Please do add this feature!

This would definitely be a fantastic feature, especially if you're working on a very large corporate site like I am and I need to scroll through almost a hundred different graphics in the components panel. Grouping them into categories and per page would definitely clean up the panel. I use the search field, however it is impossible for any designer to remember each label and keyword. Please consider implementing this feature!

PLEASE ADD CATEGORIES OR GROUPS TO ASSETS LIST.
Like Michael says below, when you have 200+ symbols it is very hard to navigate through.
If they could be collapsible that is a Bonus feature!! -

We work in a large corporation with many different business units (products), so we have a very large icon library that needs to have categories. The categories help us break up the icons into different parts of technology, or platforms, or just types of actions- which also can be Consumer or Enterprise. So having categories is extremely helpful.
When you look at the way Figma sets up their Assets - they have done a fantastic job. We just want Adobe XD to have it too- and maybe even better! The way they do it is- Each Artboard name becomes the Section Name. That is the most elegant way to do it. Their Sections are arranged Alphabetical. But i challenge Adobe XD to do it better and make it Custom or Alphabetical. To make it have a custom arrangement in Figma, you can give each section a prefix like 01-Title, 02-Title, 03-Title, etc. This has been extremely useful.
Luckily, Adobe XD does have the ability to choose which Asset Source is showing and also to Narrow down the results with Search! So thanks for having that so far!Cant wait to see this get fixed!!!!!

100% co-sign on this. Working in a document with a lot of components gets really tedious really quickly.
