Collaborative features (drawing) on the shared prototype
I'd very much like to see more elaborate way of collaborating, meaning that it would be amazing if you could comment, draw and discuss the web shared prototype, directly on the prototype link.
I’ll be leaving this suggestion open, but we currently do have comments and replies support in shared prototypes. You can view them by clicking on the speech bubble in the upper right hand corner of your shared prototype page.
Hope that helps!

Since I'm both the designer and developer, I have to share designs with clients. To make this easier for them (and me) it would be great if:
1. The comments pins were a lot more noticeable/customizable as well as when you click on the comment, for it to jump to the corresponding pin. Or, make comments look like labels that will appear in the design rather than in a side column.
2. Being able to draw on share mode would also help in taking notes while on screen sharing meetings.

My suggestion from March 8, 2022, was combined by Adobe with the above suggestion from 2017. They both have a request for a shared collaborative drawing feature in XD. This should be a more free flowing collaboration style than XD's existing sharing/commenting.

It would be great if XD had a sharing mode similar to Figma's FigJam. This would allow a designer to share an XD wireframe with a client, and allow them to brainstorm. Together we can use the XDraw (XD + draw = !) as a whiteboard and draw, highlight, etc. components of the XD wireframe.
This would be a more free flowing collaboration style than XD's existing sharing/commenting.
When the designer returns to the XD file, all the notes, etc. are there as reference.
This would need to be easy to use for a non-designer client, and work with a shared web link.

Having a simple way to draw on shared wireframes is an addition my team would love to have. Comments and replies are helpful, but having a way to point to items on the screen and connect (with an arrow or a line) to other items is highly beneficial to us.

I would add a slight different spin on this feature which I read a marking up a prototype with a pen-like interface. I would like the pen-like drawing/scribble capability in the design mode of XD to "scratch" out a prototype.
Im my experience many designers still start with paper and pen/pencil as the initial ideation method for designs. I for one am constantly looking for ways to collaborate across multiple designers (designer-types) from high-level concept, which is often very sketchy > moving into a more "wireframe" type experience which focuses on organization, structure and priority (there are often grayscale) > finally a more refined and styled look and feel.
I think we all recognize that these 3 steps (or more in some orgs) are converging - but I think it would be extremely useful (especially in larger organization) to have leadership able to quickly concept an idea, then pass it along to folks who will do the due diligence to make the prototype real for validation, or communication with non-design team members.
Adding in drawing objects would be a huge win.

I think we probably need a different feature request for a drawing tool because this one is misleading. Comments/discussion is available, what's missing is a simple drawing tool, drawing over the artboards.
This is really useful when discussing design with developers and clients.
Something like Invision's Freehand. -

1. Yes, of course. But I did not manage to se the "contextual" part of it. What is it about?
2. The marker tool. The pencil tool. The drawing tool. Anything that helps you adding "graphical" annotations instead of text only. -
Hi Rainer,
Thank you for sharing your feature request to us!
I wanted to ask couple of follow up questions, so that we better understand your ask.
1. Did you try the current pinning and contextual commenting workflow in the published prototype?
2. Of all the options that you see in Acrobat, which one would be the most useful for your use cases? -
Rainer Klute commented
Acrobat offers a lot of different ways to comment a PDF. It would be great if there were the same possibilities in the published XD prototype.

A basic drawing tool would be very beneficial for our clients. Just need something that can draw lines, arrows, circles, etc. with options for color.

We've had requests from our stakeholders that work directly with our clients to be able to include drawing tools on the prototype to better communicate key updates, changes or show a certain feature.

I know there is the ability to comment, but having the ability to draw, or circle an specific item would make it easier to show what you are talking about.
