Export Illustrator file

A client is requesting to have assets in Illustrator format. Basically, I want to be able to export from XD as an Illustrator file with the options to save images as linked or embedded. This is similar to the SVG export option, except that SVG I think has a file size limit of about 15 MB. When I export as an SVG at a large size, XD fails. Exporting as Illustrator with supported text boxes (not breaking them into individual text lines and not outlining the text either. Just easy and editable from XD to Illustrator. XD export as SVG with linked files doesn't fully work properly as it is now. I am having to rebuild files when I open them in Illustrator. Thanks!

Hi,

I would like to understand more about the limitation of the export as SVG as i am not aware of any limit. Are you talking about a limit in the application that consumes the SVG, like a browser or Illustrator?

In general, if you choose to export with embedded images, the size of SVG will become large and it will be hard to process it in other application.

    There are lots of SVG rendering functions that Illustrator doesn't read correctly - drop shadows, color alpha, text transparency, bitmap placement, blending modes, text blocks, forced uppercasing. SVG files load into Chrome and Firefox fine, but AI not so much.

    Also... "In general, if you choose to export with embedded images, the size of SVG will become large and it will be hard to process it in other application." Photoshop handles double-digit gig files fine. I've got AI files with hundreds of thousands of shapes, which are way more complex than anything I'd ever do in XD. I think OP's request is valid.

    HI Folks

    I understand the frequent need for fluid movement back and forth between XD and Illustrator/Photoshop.

    Instead of exporting as SVG, what we do is copy and paste all the elements on the page into an Illustrator file.

    It works pretty well for most page elements.

    Please add the ability to export to .ai. Exporting to .svg or .pdf really mucks with the text formatting when trying to open in Illustrator - paragraphs are broken into individual lines or characters and character spacing is removed. It's a nightmare to try to recreate a large project that was done in xd.

    Exporting XD selections as .ai, or at least as separate artboards, would be useful.

    Or at least, let me export to .ai or .psd when I'm using XD.

    Need Export option as Photoshop and Illustrator file because maximum clients are requesting for PSD or AI File them i have to recreate it in PS or AI....
