Reorder layers in Mask via Layers panel
At the moment if you mask some layers or a group of layers (Mask with shape) you are not able to reorder them. They become locked, not it terms of repositioning them but your are not able to reorder them on the layer level. Right click and "Bring to front" etc. works though.

While the hotkeys for 'Bring Forward' ( CTRL ] ) and 'Send Backward' ( CTRL [ ) work, drag and drop would be useful still too.

This is incredibly infuriating. For the love of god, Adobe, please solve this issue.

When masking multiple layers, the stacking of layers is locked. I'm assuming this was done to lock the top mask layer as always on top, but it wasn't built right since it effects the layers bellow it as well, it shouldn't.
One way to get around this is to delete layers if they are in the wrong stack order or select a layer and paste a layer in - it will always paste above selected layer. Although that is a (weird) workaround, this ui is a pain to constantly have to deal with. Please unlock masked sub layers.

I'm new to XD. Trying to switch from Sketch as I prepare to also switch from MacOS to Windows. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but I seem to be unable to change the order of layers inside a mask. I also can't drag and drop a layer inside a mask out of the mask. If this is not supported in XD, I agree with everyone else here - what the hell are y'all product managers doing? This is the most basic functionality which you need if you want to compete with Sketch.

Hi Elaine, This feature is crazy important, but is spread in many request, that's why you don't see a higher vote,, the idea that you can't add new elements to a mask group is a no no, please see sigma or PSD

Serious question: does the product manager in charge of this "feature" still work at Adobe?? (if yes, please fire them) Is this still on anyone's radar? How does an incomplete implementation just sit for 2.5 years?
You can rearrange layers using keyboard shortcuts... you can cut and paste a layer into a mask group. The only thing missing is drag and drop in the layers panel.... HOW HARD CAN THAT BE TO IMPLEMENT?!?!?!?!?!?

Is there any update on this? It would be really useful to drag layers into / out of mask groups as well as drag to reorder within mask groups. Like Photoshop clipping masks, or Sketch masks.

can you please fix this asap??? You can't "bring to front" anymore as mentioned above.

I'm sad this change is not more popular. It's so painful to have to ungroup an mask object and then recreate a mask with Shape… I currently do copy/paster to bring to front but it removes the prototype connections…

works for symbols, I can drag and drop to reorder layers inside symbol groups. but not inside mask groups.
doesn't really seem like a feature to me tbh, just sayin -

Are there any updates on this? BTW. this is also the case when I create a symbol … same logic > no layer reorder possibilities other then "bring to front" via right click or the object menu.
Thanks!
