Pen Tool: Same logic as Illustrator or Photoshop
I think the pen tool in Adobe XD is horrible. I couldn't draw the vector shapes the way I want because the pen tool is missing the same logic as Illustrator and Photoshop.
I first drew a curve vector in Adobe XD, and for my next point, I want to make a straight line. But there's absolutely no way for me to do that.
Whereas in Photoshop or Illustrator, I can hold option key to bring that '<' icon and click on the second point to and remove the next point's curve line.
Here's a video attachment to show you what I mean.

I am drawing a simple bar chart in XD with a trend line. To start the trend line I used Repeat Grid to space out the markers (great tool!). Then I draw the line with the pen tool, adding a point to the line over each marker. I did this all in a straight line with the intent of then moving each marker and anchor point up and down to simulate a realistic chart. Imagine my surprise when all of my intermediate anchor points disappeared. BUT – they didn’t I discovered. I needed to double-click to reveal them. The trouble is that I cannot move those anchor points and the shape (marker) that they are in line with. So, please another vote for making XD’s pen tool and selecting of anchor points more like Illustrator.

I agree. I can't use it and am desperate for XD to cut and paste to Illustrator faithfully so my work flow isn't broken or a real pain.

I agree. I haven't used the pen tool in XD much, I instead mostly copy and paste files from Illustrator. I think it's odd, though, that the pen tool looks radically different from other CC applications.

I have to say that I agree that one would expect the pen tool in Xd to function the same as in Illustrator and Photoshop. The only reason to do it differently in Xd would be if you came up with a pattern that is way more simple and intuitive than AI and PS, in which case one would expect the pen tools in those apps to be updated to be consistent with the new Xd version.

Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to make a video and write this up.
Originally, we had it as part of plan to do UI for toggling between "straight", "curved" and "disconnected" anchor types in the property inspector (the UI you see in the right). That got pushed out due to other priorities. Your post is one vote to prioritize that higher (more votes would be great).
Until that gets implemented, I do have a workaround for you - you can actually click on a control point and hit delete to remove it (i know this isn't ideal).
Thanks,
Anirudh
