Select artboards + objects that are outside the artboards (pasteboard) at the same time
I am creating a screen flow diagram with annotations between each artboard. I've pasted arrows between the artboards to indicate the flow of the experience between sreens.
If I'd like to move multiple artboards I've noticed that all of my arrows / annotations outside of the artboards aren't selected with the multiple artboards. It is extremely time consuming to move the outside elements after moving multiple artboards.
I read that other designers wish there could be a way to annotate or draw arrows between artboards. Perhaps that would solve my issue. I just want to show a screen / state diagram of the UI as well as jump to prototype mode when I need to.
The best way to recreate the issue I'm experiencing is by going into your starter file and try to move a few artboards with their respective annotations and you'll see my frustration. It becomes weird if you try to add in a new screen in the middle of the experience.
Sorry for the false alarm! Someone pointed out to me that I interpreted the request incorrectly. While you can now select objects both in the artboard and on the pasteboard, you cannot yet select objects on the pasteboard and complete artboards themselves.

2016 to 2023, bye.

The struggle is real every time I use XD, in regards to selecting area in XD file where multiple artboards are selected and off artboard content/objects are not included in the same area selection.
Suggestion: Add option to use a hot key (keyboard combination) when selecting multiple objects by area, ie. CMD+SHIFT when selecting area to include both artboards and off artboard content/objects.
Typically using ALT to move the selection of artboards to create a duplicate. Unfortunately the off artboard content/objects are not included in the selection, thus not duplicated in the same process. Every time this is done, the issue arises – and the following frustration is ever present.
It appears this issue has been lifted way back in 2016. And now it is 2023. 7 years ago. So, I thought I should add a reminder here. Fingers crossed this issue can be attended soon. 🤞🏻
Keep up the good work!

Adobe XD was born and will die and this "feature" will never be implemented.

If you create an artboard that covers all the loose elements, you can move it and all other artboards.
Then copy the loose elements back out, delete the new artboard, and paste the elements back in.

This is a major inconvenience. Please fix.

If I select all, I want everything to move. (Artboards and things living outside of artboards). Not doing this makes it really challenging to keep the file organized and clean.

Hi for this just please please add the capability to view outlines in XD. Illustrator has this so why not include this in XD. This will solve all the out of bounds objects that need to be hunted down.

Although it is useful to select all artboards and ignore "loose" assets when you want to move all artboards, I think the mouse drag should select all items on screen, including artboards and assets, in order to give a better understanding of every item in it.
This problem comes from the fact that I, for many times, was designing a website and through the process, got to create some assets and put them beside the artboard so I knew where they were supposed to be. But afterward eventually moved the artboard out of place not remembering about those "lost" assets and ended up with them in the middle of the artboard, in a random place.

This idea was submitted in 2016, Adobe admins (@Elaine Product Manager) is there any progress on this request? Are you even looking at implementing this?

As usual, googling how to do something so basic to productivity lands me on uservoice.

So adobe just assuming UX designers should not select them together or no need to do so?

Another annoying, unique anti-selling point of Adobe XD.

The fixed pasteboard and lack of pages conspire to make this missing feature downright depressing.
XD seems to be intended for messy designers who have no interest in efficiency.

+1 on this. The 2 common scenarios where this is very regularly an issue for me:
1: Dealing with comments to the developers outside the artboard: total PITA when they don't move or copy properly with the rest of the content.
2: Restructuring the artboards as the projects develop, same story with components, notes, ideas, backup iterations and such around the artboards.

This is like one of those weird dreams where everything is f*cked and then you wake up and are uncertain and suddenly a huge wave of relief. Unfortunately I am awake, and can't select all on the canvas (which I need to do because it's a fixed size and not infinite - what a joke).

Very practical to clean and reorder projects, especially when you can work with different users.

Yes please. When working on big projects, it's common to have all kinds of stuff on the outsides of my artboards. When I run out of space, I have 2 options.
1) Start a new file from scratch and copy over only the things I need.
2) Reposition my artboards. The elements outside of the artboards get lost or become part of artboards (big problem!)An option to do select artboards, elements outside of artboards, or both at the same time would be AMAZING!
