Simpler way to Crop Photos
There should really be a tool to crop photos by selection (maybe by double clicking on it and using the control points) but it took me a while just to figure out that i have to mask by shape just to crop a photo.
We’ve begun working on an easier way to crop your images without using an image mask and will be releasing this in an upcoming release!

Just checking if there's any update on adding a crop tool option to XD. Since it's been a few years this feature has been requested I'm curious when that might be. Since the feature works seamlessly on Photoshop it would be great if it would work the same way on XD.

Actually I know there are a lots editors can meet your need. My most-used is VanceAI, an online image editor powered by AI algorithm. Its fast Image Cropper allows cropping pictures online using various presets. This option will come in handy when you need to change the proportions of pictures before posting them on social media. Have a try! https://vanceai.com/image-cropper

It is in a real sense crazy that this is certainly not a straightforward, table-stakes activity in XD.
I see that Adobe "started chipping away at" an approach to trim pictures in 2018 and here we are in 2020 paying some dues to do a basic yield in a UI apparatus.
The main explanation anybody utilizes this instrument is on the grounds that organizations drive it upon fashioners who realize they can finish things faster, simpler, and more tight with any of the serious devices available.
Disgrace on you Adobe for situating XD as everything except what it actually is: an insane, non-client focused beta of a UI apparatus (don't get me going how inappropriate it is for genuine UX). https://youarewhatyoudrink.org/springwell-water-filter-reviews/

So many "Feature-Started" from 2018 or 2019, sometimes 2016!! Sorry, but it seems that Adobe is tired of developing XD … Maybe they stop XD and all of our work here in the feature request area was in vain?

Please add some basic image editing tools such as Marquee to select and cut/ copy and area and a quick way to crop an image.
See Sketch for some inspiration and please release more frequently! -

Quite confused as to why there's no proper crop tool. Definitely a needed feature that will hopefully release...soon? At least 2021 please?

So the XD team was working on this feature on April 2018...Now it is April 2021. Three years and it is still being developed. Got it.

You can add my vote on this feature. This seems to be the simplest of things that even your simple photo library app in a 5-year-old phone can do... but too hard to do for the adobe xd team? Get on it. It's frankly laughable. You have been on it for more than two years?

It is literally absurd that this is not a simple, table-stakes action in XD.
I see that Adobe "began working on" a way to crop images in 2018 and here we are in 2020 jumping through hoops to do a simple crop in a UI tool.
The only reason anyone uses this tool is because institutions force it upon designers who know they can get things done quicker, easier, and tighter with any one of the competitive tools on the market.
Shame on you Adobe for positioning XD as anything but what it still is: a half-baked, non-user-centered beta of a UI tool (do not even get me started how ill-suited it is for actual UX).

So disappointed, the feature request have an admin reply since 2018, but nothing yet.
Without this feature, there are some workflows that are very painful to do with XD: for example i took a screenshot and then i need to slice it in many little pieces.
Actually it is a nightmare to do this with XD.
Please provide this function, i'm really wondering how is possible that a so basic function is not present on a tool like this....

It still sucks. There's no easy, intuitive way to crop an icon/image. Pasting appearance doesn't work for this.
You'd think a UI program (which is a design tool to create an improved USER INTERFACE) would have an intuitive way to crop an image. In its current state, it's a joke.

This would be very very helpful. What's the best workaround at this time?

Lol, since 2018 and nothing yet. This is painful. If you guys want to keep the ability within photoshop then give XD the ability to select multiple areas of a file to crop in Photoshop. Don't let Sketch leave you guys in the dust, you're more than capable of getting it done.

The frustrating thing is: There is such a thing like a mask, when importing an image. But it does not work properly and so I have to make a mask additional. But then it gets often really confused with the responsive resize function (I turned it off but the image still moves in it's frame) or if I scale this mask-conglomeration. Then sometimes the first mask cuts off the image although the second mask has enough space for it …
Adobe implemented this image mask feature a year ago*, but why do they implement when it's not working properly? Sometimes it feels like Adobe do not use their own product … not to mention use their own product under real life working circumstances … -

the fact that I have to look for how to do it online is saying something.... I really dont understand, why doesnt Adobe just take what it has in Ps or Ai, that Adobe useres are already used to and happy with and copy it to this new software....

I think the way it is working now is very good, the only thing i can think of is that you can't edit the shape vector points if you add a picture to the shape. I would love an option to do that from the right-click option menu.
