Spacing Before or After Paragraphs
Would love to have the ability to adjust the spacing before or after a paragraph as InDesign and Photoshop. Right now I can change the line height, but there needs to be another setting to adjust spacing between paragraph blocks.
Hi there,
This feature was completed and released in July.
Best,
Dan

Please add true character & paragraph styles, as you have in InDesgin

When defining a text style there is no possibility to define the space after a paragraph? This ist basic for all text-editing.
Second: When you use a text box with different text styles it is NOT possible to define different spaces after the paragraphs. Also basic

Yes, please look at InDesign as a reference for text styles functionalities.
Now, when I have paragraph style and i need to add different colors i need to create another style with another color. This is very uncovinient. -

Would love a slight tweak to this feature that differentiates between soft and hard returns

Like photoshop, being able to set left/right indents. Also having the ability to set different before/after spacing and leading in the same text box to eliminate having to have a lot of text boxes on an artboard.

Hello Corey,
yes I man the character styles.
Copying color: Thanks, that helps.
Revealing character styles by clicking on text: It is not only about choosing a style. It is also important to see if the text is already formatted by a character style. Sometimes you forget choosing a style or didn't choose all characters. An indicator would be good.
Thanks

Hi Andreas. Can you please elaborate?
Are you speaking of the character styles in the assets pane?
The edit dialog speaks RGB, Hex, or HSB there is a drop down to the left of the textual color input field.
You can right click on any text node and reveal character style in the assets pane. It's not always you want to auto-scroll the assets pane when you select a text node...because of course you might be trying to apply a new one.
Agree with you on the saved colors...will file that issue for sure.
Thanks for the clarification.

For me the paragraph styles have only little usability. Too many features are lacking. The system of InDesign is on my opinion the best practice
For example if I want to change the color, I want to see my all my saved colors in the dialog so I can choose them.
I can copy the color values but only in Hex. But the dialog speaks only RGB.
All functions should be available in the paragraph styles
Renaming should be possible in the dialog
When I choose a text I want to see which paragraph style is applied.
Indesign is really a good blue print for the work flow of designers and we are used to it.

Note: in web design, Space Before and After behaves differently because the CSS technology behind it differs. E.g. space between paragraphs is not calculated as the sum of After + Before but just set as the largest of the two. But I wonder if Adobe XD is already up for such a debate...

@MaMaLy - It's a joke that Soft Returns don't work.
I don't understand how Adobe expects us to take this application seriously, when they missing so much Basic support for standard text editing. -

Please add soft returns! Support this simple request:

The July release brought spacing after paragraphs. Yay, I love it. In order to build typographic hierarchy in a single text area, we need the ability to set the line height individually for each paragraph too. Automatic text flow instead of shifting boxes around. If you want to get there please support this feature as well: https://adobexd.uservoice.com/forums/353007-adobe-xd-feature-requests/suggestions/16397209-independently-adjust-the-line-height-of-an-individ

Yes, need this feature. Print guy in a web world doing my first larger scale wireframe in XD. Infinitely better than comping a site in Photoshop or InDesign, but typography controls like this really lacking and necessary..

I REALLY need this feature, eps as it concerns opening my existing photoshop files. We put a lot of love into our typography in our designs-- and it correlates to padding or margins on p tags, etc. As a shop we cannot use XD till this is resolved

Delighted to hear this feature is on the way - I am brand new to XD and I have spent ages trying to figure out how to do this because I just wouldn't believe the feature didn't exist!

The latest XD update gives us the ability to import PSDs into XD, however upon trying this yesterday I found it was mostly good but the main problem was that XD does not retain paragraph spacing or indenting. Please add this feature, it's very important.

Because I work with my clients' IT teams, I need to be able to accurately show them the spacing desired between paragraphs.
It is inefficient to break up paragraphs into single text boxes in order to space them appropriately. But I do it. Because that is the only way to make sure the teams understand the look we want.
Please help me be more efficient for my clients by adding this functionality.

If you can achieve it with CSS you should be able to achieve it with XD. This helps with determining the flow of copy where there is a need to estimate content character counts over large amounts of text and the flow (without creating separate boxes).
