Easier way to toggle grid on/off
This may be small but takes a lot of time up: I switch between seeing the grid and not seeing a lot. In XD I have to click on the artboard name for the grid show/hide shortcut keys work. Would be awesome if these would work anywhere in design mode.
Now, you can marque select all the artboards you want, then use Cmd + ’ (apostrophe) to turn grids on and off. Please let us know if it doesn’t cover your needs. Thanks.

Ctr + '
Should show/hide the grid :( (Like in Photoshop - why to use another combination?).Very annoying you need to use 3 keys (ctr + shift + ') for the most useful pattern (You most of the time need to move from `grid on/off` Vs `grid to Square).

I believe that it currently works as original user described.
If you have a selection *inside* an Artboard (i.e. Artboard itself is not selected) then shortcut key toggles grid for that Artboard. If you then press Esc key to deselect (i.e. nothing is selected), then shortcut key toggles grid for Artboard where last selection was.
If you have a multi-selection across Artboards, then grid is only toggled for 1 Artboard. Is this the case you are referring to? If it's some other case, then please provide a set of steps to describe scenario.

It seems like the ADMIN hasn't read this request properly. The user is asking for being able to turn the grid on and off WITHOUT having the artboard selected. The response from the admin completely ignores the main point of this feature request and I and proposing that it "FEATURE COMPLETE" be removed and re-open this ticket.

Hello,
This does not cover my needs. I need fast way to turn grids on and off without having to select an artboard. Beside this I need the specified grid for the artboard to be kept - now Ctrl+' is always turning on/off only Layout grid, Ctrl+Shift+' is doing the same, so I don't have shortcut for Square grid. I'm with Windows 10.
Thanks

CMD SHIFT ' = toggle grid type layout
CMD ' = toggle grid type square -

This shortcut only works on grid type square. Even with the grid type layout selected, if you press this shortcut, this will change the grid type to square. This way, this shortcut is pretty useless.

agreed this would be EXTREMELY nice to have.
Cmd ' (apostrophe) appears to turn on/off the active artboards grid (square view) however like others I frequently want to turn the "Layout" on/off. Cmd ' will turn it off but repeatedly pressing only toggles between the Square grid and no grid.

Same as Nicolas Baur,
This is extremely annoying because even if you turn of the screenshot shortcut it still won't
take it as the shift key makes it impossible to get to the ' key !!Please fix this guys!
Cheers,

Is there an AZERTY version of this shortcut ? Cmd + ’ takes screen captures on an AZERTY Mac keyboards and it's a feature I've been using several times a day for ages and I'm definitely not going to change that just for XD.
It would be nice to have at least shortcuts settings to let the user choice or a simplier shortcut like the "W" in InDesign as it been said earlier in the comments.
Thanks !

Ah... feature "completed". I'll open a new feature request for a global shortcut toggle.

+1 (for some reason I vote won't register)
It's quite rare that I hit cmd+shift+' (toggle layout grid) WHILE an artboard is selected. Definitely need a global shortcut to eliminate the need for an artboard to be selected.

I would also vote for a better way to toggle grids without the need to have an art board selected. I constantly hit Cmd+' (apostrophe) when an art board is not selected and it is pretty frustrating. I would argue that as a designer you either want the grids on or off globally and not specific to a single grid. What is the rational to have it specific to an art board?

having to select the artboard before using the hotkey somewhat defeats the purpose. Its an extra click that isn't necessary.

I don't see why you would have to turn off the grid for a specific artboard, for me it doesn't add anything. Also I'd rather have it be a really simple shortcut like "W". This, for instance would be similar to the preview mode in InDesign.

This is certainly better. Thanks for the update!
