Paste Here (where my mouse pointer is) option
Currently AdobeXD has an useful way to copy paste keeping the pasted object aligned with the original object position or pasting it in the same place relative to the original artboard.
But what is missing is a way to paste an element exactly where the mouse pointer is. Usually if I need an element somewhere in an artboard, the paste option makes it appear somewhere else, usually very far (and sometimes hidden behind other elements).
A "Paste Here" (where my mouse pointer is when I right click) option is necessary to be able to pinpoint the exact location where to paste. Also it should use the z-position of the top graphic element in such very point as a base to drop the new object, positioning it just above the object I right-clicked on (or where the mouse pointer is when I press the "paste-here" key combination).
Without this I waste too much time dragging things pasted in the wrong places.
This additional option should allow the user a choice between paste-aligned or paste-here.
Thank you.

I believe basic pasting from other boards needs some work.
Right now I'm trying to past a symbol from another document and I have a section selection, indicating I want the pasting to be done in that section but XD, instead, is pasting the symbol in a random white area of the board, which is useless since the symbol is also white and it feels like nothing got pasted.
If an area is selected, then the pasting should occur inside that area, basically. -

Anytime I have assets on the file page (not on an artboard.. like a screenshot or image).. and hit 'paste' to paste an artboard from another file.. the outstanding image also masks in the artboard.. because we have no control of where an artboard pastes. If we right click a specific location on file.. please paste the artboard THERE instead of next to the previous artboard.

Agree that this is needed for both objects and artboards, and should have a shortcut as well as being available from the right button menu.
For artboards, I would prefer it if adobe xd did try to align the pasted artboard with the surrounding artboards where possible.
Specifically:
If the space surrounding the mouse is not large enough for the pasted artboard, then paste at the location of the mouse.
If the space surrounding the mouse is large enough for the pasted artboard, then attempt to align it within that space to the surrounding artboards.
Otherwise, paste into the available space as best as it will fit.
For objects within artboards I would also prefer if it also tried to do some minor alignment in certain circumstances.
Specifically:
If the object is being copied and pasted within the same artboard, and the mouse position is clearly above or below the original copied object, then the pasted object should be horizontally aligned with the original.
Similarly, if the object is being copied and pasted within the same artboard, and the mouse position is clearly to the left or right of the original copied object, then the pasted object should be vertically aligned with the original.
Otherwise the object should be pasted at the current mouse position

This should also be extended to pasting artboards. I cannot figure out Adobe's current logic on where they appear when pasted, but it's definitely never where I want them to go.

If nothing else comes of this, Paste should paste the item ***directly above a selected item***, if one is selected.
(It already knows to paste inside a group if an item in the group is selected)
From there, it's a trivial matter to use the layer panel to pull it behind the item.

This right here would be super useful. It's kind wack having to sort through laters every time I copy/cut/paste something. Having this organizational functionality would help tons considering the very limited layer organization options in this app.

I have an object within a mask (a scrollable list) and I need to add an item to the end of the list. When I copy the item from the bottom of the list it is sitting below the art board (offscreen), when I copy it from the correct position and paste in place onto the next art board it pastes to the middle of the art board (the wrong position). I would like it to paste where I copied from even though it was technically off the art board.

Prototype mode makes it easy to drag an already pasted element.

I also posted a request for another "Paste..." essential: Paste into !
Please vote for that one separately, since it's not a totally new feature, it just needs a tweak. In the recent update, the "Paste Appearance" command can be used to copy/paste an already placed image into another frame or shape. It is very useful, but I'm afraid no user will expect the feature to be named and used in that way. I've tested it with a few course attendees (by asking them "what would you expect?") and they all answered "Paste Into". Even with the "Paste Appearance" command available to them in sight (under the right-click or menu command), they overlooked it.
Users don't expect such an image to be an aspect of "appearance". And besides that, it took Adobe Illustrator about 15 years to get users to understand the "Appearance" term – and they still don't.

I wish they had paste to back (command+B) like in illustrator on XD... :)

The non intuitive concept that helped me in XD is that by not actually clicking on an art board yet hovering roughly where I want the pasted element to be, XD then pastes the item on the clipboard in the middle of the viewport. I'm getting used to it now. It feels like the inverse of Illustrator.

I think 'paste in place' is a great default, *except* when that would mean the pasted element lands outside the viewport, it's easy to lose track of pasted elements that way.
So i wouldn't add any extra menus, but would paste elements in the centre of the viewport whenever the original artboard location is out of view. -

I would say this is a good idea. In a lot of cases pasting in exactly the same place is crucial but often it's a bad thing as I often want the pasted item to be where I am on the art board or canvas. Not to then have to go searching for where it is. Although as I write this I've just realised if I click off of an artboard and on to the canvas the item gets pasted in the middle of my viewport, which is good. Mmm...

fwiw, i intuitively expect anything i paste to be a child of the element currently selected.
i also expect pasted things to land relative to either the Artboard or currently selected element.
Paste Into and Paste In Place or similar might help.i still have trouble selecting hierarchically (click, double click, cursor on the wrong pixel kind of thing, how do i get to that element?) too; so, group/parent/hierarchy clarity in general might benefit from some polish.

Yes! This would be great to have...in my current setup I have 30 artboards and if I need to change a logo at the top right for all of them then I need change it on one artboard, copy it, and proceed to paste it one by one on each of the 30 artboards! Very time consuming and inefficient...would love to be able to copy from one artboard, and select all or a range of artboards and paste into the same location for all the selected artboards.
