Drag image to application icon on Dock
In any Adobe app, or most any Mac design app, you can drag an image from your finder, or straight from a browser onto the app icon, and it will open up a canvas with that image sized exactly to the size of that image. Use that feature in fireworks and photoshop daily. However, when doing this with Xd it gives an error. You can drag an image onto the canvas itself from a web browser but dragging onto the icon does not appear to work.
A while back it stopped working with Fireworks too, but Adobe finally fixed it again.

While it may "sound" like a feature request this is a bug. The drag image feature is available in all current Adobe products and most third party Mac image products and most all Apple products that support images.
It was also supported in the original version of Adobe XD (Fireworks) which ultimately this program is a replacement of, albeit a fresh start approach. With Fireworks it worked and then at one point it stopped working and took many months but finally Adobe fixed the bug, then a year or so later happened again and then many months later was finally resolved. There are bug reports in regards to it throughout the adobe forums.
Hopefully this can be resolved so that XD functions like all current Adobe image products.

Thanks for testing and the comment. This sounds rather like a feature request than a bug. Could you please open a feature request for it? Also, could you describe what expectations you would have for the following:
Adobe Illustrator would create a new document of the size of the last created document and import the image into the newly created document.
Photoshop would open the dragged image in editing mode.
What would you expect XD to do? Create a canvas without or with an artboard? If the document should have an artboard, should it have the dimension of the image?
What if you drag multiple images on the icon, should they be added together to one new document? Should we open a new document for each image as Illustrator does?
