Add a background color to the active tool in the toolbar
When you select the rectangle, ellipse or line tool, the 1px outline goes blue to show it is selected and active. It would be nice to also slightly darken/lighten the background color of the selected tool too just to show contrast as the 1px blue is too subtle, I have to click twice to be sure my selected tool is actually active.

Left menu have for the selected state border with blue color. This is not visible for everyone because the contrast is to subtle. Some people don;t can see this. A sugestion is like how is now for the grey arrow, to be the same full color inside for selected state.

Please make the tools easier to see when selected. I can't see the difference between the line tool selected and not selected. Background should change to blue and icon to white when in focus. Thanks, Steve

Yes, I totally agree. That goes for all toolbar icons. They need a more clear highlight. This is just poor design on Adobe's part :/
