Copy from XD & paste into Illustrator (or Photoshop)
For any given vector pieces, to be able to copy from XD and cut to illustrator. We can do it in the other way for now, but it would be great if it could work the other way too.
To rework an icon for example, or trick an object with more advanced tools like in illustrator. Why ? It's faster than to export to svg and export it back again. It would also allow to keep your objects scaled the same way.
This feature is now available in the March release! If you don’t see an update, select the … icon in the Creative Cloud desktop app and select “Check for App Updates.” If you have further feedback on this feature, please feel free to file a new ticket!

Allow copying and pasting art boards from XD directly into Illustrator as art boards, and all elements can be edited as vectors.

Really need this feature. It's a bit useless without tbh.

This is a must.
CC Library won't help for favoring edibility.
I would choose copy and paste over CC Library any day of the week.
Not to mention copy and paste is great for small quick projects. -

Demian, most people will need copy and paste in it's usual way - CMD+C & CMD+V - as specified in the request title. People may want the library function but not primarily. The library way I suspect is an easy way for you to move forward with this but it is not what most users will want I am sure. Just think about the interaction required...we're copying and pasting all the time and that is what we need from XD to illustrator (primarily) and then other apps such as Photoshop and Indesign.

It would basically work as dynamic objects like in photoshop ? It would be nice.
But in the cases when you don't want to update all your instances, but just modify quickly an asset in illustrator. It becomes a very long process to export, save etc, when copy paste* (I made a mistake in my first post, it's paste not cut) is way faster and more adaptable to any given situations than the use of the library. It is limitating is some ways :/I personnally don't use the library maybe I'm the only one Idk hahaha but it would not be appropriate for this specific action. It's waay too long.
What I imagined could be nice was the way we can easily paste items from indesign, to illustrator, then back to indesign to then be able to paste it in photoshop etc..

Demian, using the library wouldn't be good for me. I want a quick cut and paste. Already hundreds of times I have had to go back and forth and through various hoops just to get the asset the way I want it in XD as there is not full cut and paste support from Illustrator from XD and from XD to Illustrator. This is a fluid creation barrier right now. Let me know your thoughts. Cheers James

@demian the features sounds good but I personally don't use the CC Library. If it could sync with Dropbox and Google Drive, however then it would be excellent.

Now you can export artboard to pdf then open it in illustrator. individual elements seems to be editable in illustrator but texts gets messed up a bit.

The work around proposed by Peter Flynn doesn't work... I have tried to export both individual objects and the hole file... when trying to import to AI or PS all objects get inside a maks... and if you try to edit anything made with vectors the it the object will be deformed

I would like Experience Design to have an option of copying design elements from Experience Design and pasting in other Adobe tools like Illustrator/Photoshop for further refining.

Hi,
it is really nice to use XD for something light and simple, but to elaborate more on it, I'd like to copy and paste whatever i have to AI so I can add more detail. But surprisingly, this is not supported:)

I'd also like to +1 this.
We currently have a UX guy building wireframes, and when he is ahed, for time's sake I rebuild the Icons he creates in XD.
Without a copy and paste feature and I can't paste them in Ai, and I have to redraw them from PNG files!

AI currently doesn't support working with XD.
In order for you to edit something created with XD in AI, you should export to SVG and then open and edit that in AI. -

Copying from XD to Photoshop does not seem to be possible.
So +1 on this request -

I can't click on the link and it seems its truncated, but its a basic copy/paste command.
Create a simple shape in XD
select shape
command-c or edit-copy
switch to illustrator
command-v
nothing happens.Try the same from ai and it works perfectly

Recently, I had tried to copy an asset (circle with some text in it) to Illustrator. Unfortunately, this action did not work. It would be great to have a copy feature available for XD to Illustrator, since it works from Illustrator to XD.
