Alternating Colors for rows and columns in Repeat Grid
Being able to create alternating colors to rows or columns after using the repeat grid tool. Very useful for when creating tables that need visual separations between data.

I am developing a plugin that will provide this feature; to help you guys create and manage tables easily.
Please see a preview here: https://youtu.be/tQ6SJVeQWBo
Its a work in progress and I'll be posting regular updates on my channel. I'm still figuring out which features to prioritize and your feedback will be most appreciated.

For many people using XD in the UI space, tables or some variation of a data table will be included in nearly every project.

This is a good feature request and while the solutions below work, they are most definitely a band aid and not great solutions (although I do the same thing often). Being able to identify alternating background colors or other elements for repeat grids would be hugely beneficial when designing data display grids.

Sure, the hacks work (I've been repeating the first two rows), however it makes it complected with dropping in names, addresses, etc. in the table. This would be a nice feature to have!

I've created two different background images then I've applied it to the first and second row in the repeated grid as described in this link: https://theblog.adobe.com/exploring-repeat-grid-in-adobe-xd/ (Step 2: Create An Image Fill Pattern)
It works fine for me.

:odd :even background for repeat grid.
When you do repeat grid, the option of odd/even background color can help a lot.
Usage: I want to make every second item darker...

I think you can do that now. You have to make 2 rectangles (one dark, one light) and then repeat the group. It's not a true table...there is a different idea for that:
