For me, this is not a feature, but a way of lock layer should behave in the first place. So what's the point of the locked layer if I can select it anyway, and all layers below are inaccessible because of that behaviour? Compare to all other Adobe programs like Illustrator, Indesign, Photoshop when I locked some layer I don't wanna work on it until I unlocked it. That is common sense of how locked/unlocked layer should it behave...

Currently, a locked layer will block the ability to select an unlocked layer behind it. Can we change this so if you click on the area of a locked layer, it instead selects any layers that occupy that same space?

Yes, please! Please totally lock the layer or object when it's locked. It's very frustrating to have a locked item appear highlighted when I am trying to click on something beneath it!

Especially with grids; I need to keep the grid on the top layer locked but visible so a design can be aligned to it.

I agree with Lior Bar-David's comment below. It's helpful to sometimes be able to select a locked layer, and I do like that you can unlock from the artboard, and that you don't have to go find the locked item in a list of layers. The problem I'm having is that sometimes I want to lock something so I can get to an object underneath it, and the way it works now, I'm not able to select the unlocked item that sits under a locked layer.

When I try to catch an item underneath a locked object, It does not let me do that. I have to hide to object in the front and then drag the object that was underneath.

Would be great if the locked objects were ignored and the mouse arrow get the unlocked object underneath.

Ok, when my bootstrap grid is on the top of all layers it doesn't allows me to select everything underneath of it, even if grid layer is locked - I only can hide grid layer to select anything! Ai and Ps works perfect with locked layers - just for example.

The one option that drives me up a wall is that I can't lock and object. yes, there's an option to lock an object but I don't want access to it until I unlock it. I create my grid patterns and I'm constantly fighting with my so call Locked Object. On Windows is the worst because layers option is missing.

I think having a locked object be completely disabled is a good idea. If you have a responsive grid overlaying the whole art board, and not wanted selected while you are moving objects underneath to align them to the grid.

Being able lock objects and make them non selectable is a basic layout need.

It allows you to select past an object in the stacking order or select groups of objects without selecting unintended items.

Hiding objects isn't the same you still may want to see the locked object and the roundtrip back and forth to find objects in a layers panel constantly wastes a lot of time.

I would say it's still a vaiid request.

I think it's not necessary to mark locked objects as selected if you are selecting multiple objects by click and drag selection. Because you cannot to manipulate with them and it makes situation confused if you have in artboard over hunderds objects.

I would agree with this request in partial. Disabling locked layers is convenient for common selection tasks. Most often then not you would click off the selected object to deselect them, but in this instance it simply selects the locked background layer. That being said, it's also a convenient feature if you want to align an object to a locked layer.

It might be better to create a secondary option to select locked layers as it is a less common behaviour. For example you could option click a locked layer to select it if you wanted to unlock or align an object to it.
