Allow Adobe XD to have third party plugins/extensions
Hello there,
I’m happy to share that you can now create and use plugins in Adobe XD.
Please take a look here to learn more: https://adobexdplatform.com/
Thank you so much for your feedback!

+1 to all these comments. We would love to see plugin development and a robust scripting API like Illustrator. This would unlock lots of new value and integrations.

Zeplin and Avocode please!

Not having the ability to export to Zeplin or Avocode is the only thing preventing me from using XD as my main UI design tool. Please implement this feature ASAP!

You don't have to open source the software, but it sure would be nice to have extensibility points where custom buttons, actions, and behaviors can be programmed and added to the software. Once that's available I believe Adobe will find themselves in a position where the extensions created by the community may be worthy of incorporating back into the software as a feature.
There's no need to literally open source the entire software in that regard.
- Allow extensions.
- Allow project files to record which extensions are required / in use.
- Allow the software to notify users of uninstalled extensions and for users to discover the extension easily.

This software is too good to NOT be open source.
And there is no time to wait. Period.
If Adobe want to rule this era of UI design they really should open source Adobe XD right away.
To see a software like this with no support from the amazing open source community is such a shame and waste.
I really cant think of a single reason why we would not want Adobe XD to be open source.
There are so many awesome features that could be added to this amazing piece of software but I really don't think we will get to see even half of what could be done if Adobe continues to develope XD by them selves.
OPEN SOURCE IT NOW !

A software like this and no 3rd party plugins support? Come on Adobe :) Take a look at Microsoft and how they are managing Visual Studio Code. If we could get that kind of plugin support for Adobe XD it would be so freaking amazing!

Please add support for applescript, like in other products.

This would be extremely helpful. I understand that Adobe is already working on this from the following official blog post:
"With the addition of design specifications in XD, you’ll be able to provide developers with a link to a version of your design document that they can view and interact with directly inside the browser. In this view, they’ll get access to artboard and object level annotations you’ve made, be able to download assets, get code snippets for the target platforms, inspect animations and transitions, as well as take measurements so as to get layouts just right."

I'd personally like to see a way to export the design into real-world production ready code (as closely as possible) for a framework. And I don't want to be limited to popular frameworks such as Bootstrap or Zurb Foundation - but any framework. So I'd like the ability to write 3rd party plugins to meet this expectation.

3rd Party plugin support would make my live 100 times easier and reduce the amount of features you need to bake into Xd natively. Features I already see requested like exporting style guides or measurements, additional ui or component kits, prototype or mockup commenting and shared planning are all things other apps do incredible well, eg. Zeplin, invision, etc. Don't reinvent the wheel, just open up plugin support so they can integrate with Xd the same way they integrate with other common tools like Sketch.
To build off that, Sketch is terrible from a UX standpoint compared to Xd, but because it has support for so many plugins its been adopted as the go to tool, forcing me to use it in many cases. I'd make a full switch to Xd in a heartbeat if the plugins available to me in Sketch were available to me in Xd.

I was just thinking, if we users can get the ability to build scripts with extendscript toolkit for XD, and install with extension manager this will fix and make XD the boss of prototyping.
Alot of the ideas to be created and it will be nice user/developer can build what they need.
This will take alot of workload of your hand.

I would also love to have a Zeplin integration! Now I still have to create the final designs in Sketch, so I can export them to Zeplin – so our developers have all the specs and assets. I can only switch to XD completely when my entire workflow is supported :)
