A clean export/import feature from Indesign to XD/Illustrator would be fantastic. By ”clean” I mean preserved text boxes and no strange vector masks etc - simply put, a well structured XD/AI file.

The biggest problem today, in my opinion, is that text boxes gets scrambled when you export/import between Indesign and Illustrator. To my knowledge, the file exchange support between XD and AI works quite well nowdays.

I'm also interested to hear any update on this feature. As Kate said, being able to import between these two apps would be a game changer to our workflow.

Can we get an update on this? InDesign is a much more powerful tool for layout creation. Being able to import across to XD to prototype and give specs to developers would be a game-changer.

The repeat grid functionality is incredible in XD but would be equally awesome for laying out catalogs and directories in InDesign. It would be great if XD files could be exported as InDesign files, and Adobe should also add this functionality directly to InDesign.

This would really make workflows across multiple teams so much easier. The amount of times I've received InDesign files to work with or complaints from graphic designers who have little use for XD files ... I love the way vectors copy to and from Illustrator; would be lovely to have more support for InD as well.

We really need a sharable ecosystem between our app development team, our UX team, and our marketing team. InDesign integration would really simplify team collaboration. Of course XD and ID are very different platforms, but the ability to share more seamlessly would be a huge win for our business.

Guten morgen, ich wollte einmal nachfragen, ob zukündtig XD mit inDesign besser interagieren kann. InDesign soll ja eigentlich zur erstellung von analogen sowie digitalen medien dienen. allerdings arbeiten XD und InDesign nur schlecht zusammen.
das ist schade, weil ich XD besondrs gerne zum protoyping verwenden würde.

I would love it as well! Adobe XD is a great tool and would be even greater if it could be used with inDesign. I love inDesign, but for web, XD is far more suited.

Would love Adobe Xd to integrate with indesign as most graphic designers find it much better to work and visualise layout on it. If there was an easier transition it would be amazing

Bumping this - now more than Ever I think we're getting to the point of an ecosystem in which we can work between the major Adobe apps fluidly - I think InDesign is the missing link in the puzzle (along with maybe Dreamweaver? but won't touch the complexity of that here).

Please make it so not only can assets be copied to and from both XD and InDesign, but also that each software can open the filetypes of the other - maintaining all aspects of the design intact and fully editable and customizable!

I can copy an artboard as a flattened layer to INDD but I cannot edit any of the graphics/images to create the clickable interactions that clients like to see. It makes no sense to export to After Effects, and not INDD. Adobe, please create products that think of how UX/UI Designers work! We have to have multiple interactive elements, not just a prototyping tool. Other than that, I like how we can copy the CSS/HTML/JAVA and multiple other scripts, but again, behavior is based on code and I cannot employ that without integrating functionality.

As of this morning, I was able to command copy content from inDesign into XD and it maintained editable text and scalable graphics.

Why always this nonsensical interaction with Illustrator? Photoshop is important, that's true, but everything that is already possible in layouting with XD reminds me, as a longtime InDesign user, on a slow replica of features that already exist in InDesign for years. Modern flat-design websites or app interfaces can be built very quickly in Indesign and above all: very flexibly (linked images, Indesign data placed into Indesign data, formats, etc.). Indesign is already a digital tool, for example to build ePUB documents. It would be a huge help if you could just open Indesign layouts in XD. So today, I'm not fully in XD-User, that would definitely change with a InDesign-Integration.
By the way: XD so far is already a very interesting software with a very nice UI and an amazing speed. Congratulations!

1 - The most important is to be able to copy and paste a screen from XD to InDesign.
Use case:
- I need to indicate a lot of specifications for a screen and I need to display the different state of the screen in function of different parameters (If user type A, if user type B, if no network, if no more credit,)
I'm using InDesign and it is faster to do it if I can copy/paste

2 - The possibility to get components can be useful, same as with Illustrators, all my screens are on XD, I'm linking the XD file to InDesign, and I can set a specific artboard name to display it. In that case XD is used as a screen components container (I can also add some prototypes). And InDesign is used to details (by text) all specifications, or to be able to provide small specifications dedicated for one sprint instead of delivering everything.
