tldr: the "workaround" if I can remember to do this is to get in the habit of after creating a text box to press esc three times.

Any hotly debated option is ripe for a change in settings/preferences. Please make this available. It drives me nuts how many times I do exactly the following:

0 - Press v, grab shapes and text boxes, move them around, etc. Do this all day long. Then...

1 - Press T
2 - Click on the screen with my mouse.
3 - type my text
4 - Press esc to communicate I'm done typing.
5 - Click somewhere else.
6 - Press V to bring up the selection cursor.
7 - See a v flashing on my screen instead.
8 - Make an angry face at Adobe
9 - Press delete.

why is this frustrating? Because you taught me a magic mode (the keyboard shortcut) that helps me go faster, and then you break the magic and violate how it works, in effect punishing me for trying to go faster.

It's breaking a basic rule in design. As David Knell said, this is the straw that makes me not want to use this product. And it's such a simple fix. It makes me complain about you to other people. I don't want to be a user who complains - none of us do. Win over 56 folks to become your fans and fix this please.

1. Navigate artboards: No shortcut though this is a basic function in Figma and Sketch.

2. No preferences

3. Can’t set up nudge value: Have to create a layout grid first. Awkward and not good user experience.

4. Can’t scroll zoom in reverse: This is a basic feature in Figma and Sketch.

5. When doing a desktop preview it is a different size than artboard.

6. Can’t create an artboard automatically to whatever is on the screen

7. Can’t click on a bitmap and delete area. Must send to Photoshop

8. Cursor should change to pointer after zooming automatically instead of having to chose pointer (v)

This still isn't a thing? Figma, Sketch, inVision, they all do it. Why does this one not? And still no option? It doesn't make sense.

Required to use XD for a single project I am currently on with an agency and I cannot believe that in 2021, five years after this post was created, I am writing this comment, among others. Please fix this. It is putting a massive strain on trying to just... design anything. It's crippling.

There is a reason the other apps do revert back to the selection tool.

+1 Really needs to be fixed. It makes me crazy ... unusable for me. Such a great program but this "feature" is really annoying. Let users switch if they want to. Look at Figma!

Hitting escape to go back to the selection tool is a mental model we used to have on Windows XP. Please keep up with current events and allow automatic switch.

Please fix this otherwise it feels incredibly clunky to use.

This needs to be fixed. Even by clicking Command while selecting from type tool Just like other Adobe products. It gives a headache whenever I use XD!

I would love to see source that shows that this is 'debated' and not a MUST-have feature for all designers. I to would really love for this to be a default behavior or at the very least a preference.

This is soooo essential, I love XD but I don't understand why I have to press V every time I need to select something. It saves so much more time. You should definitely consider to provide a preference :)

Yeah an option to change the behaviour would be great. Users coming from other apps that work like Sketch/Figma/Studio would feel more at home and wouldn't need to get used to another way of working.

I totally agree. Thats the only reason why I can't imagine to ever use XD.

If Adobe just would give us users the possibility to choose between both options. Easy solution.

Btw: All other UX tools I know (Sketch, Figma, Framer, ...) offer the behavior we are requesting here. Why does adobe go against the current?

The existing selection tool can only be automatically selected, but when there are multiple levels, the selection will be wrong, or the selection cannot be moved after the selection is correct; it is recommended to turn off the automatic selection function, similar to PHOTOSHOP, the user can choose whether to open the automatic selection.

You can use ctrl-space if you want a transient zoom tool (or ctrl-option-space to zoom out). Otherwise the formal tool is persistent, as our all tools in XD.

When I used the mobile tool,Then I used the zoom tool to zoom in on the interface. After I used the zoom tool, it didn't automatically return to the move tool.......like PS？
