I started filling out your survey about grids and lost patience with the specificity of questions. I want the software to make as little assumptions as possible about specific grid settings. Frontend frameworks that are overly opinionated about grids are painful to work with, if you want to create unique experiences. Professional design software should provide tools not solutions.

I don't get the survey I've got. You want thousands of people choosing what they use the most and make one static tool?

How about making the grid system flexible so everyone can use it?

1. Let us set all the parameters. Margin, gutter, colomn and total width.
2. Let us style the grid with color and opacity
3. Make a horizontal line system as well where we can choose all the parameters. line width and spacing between lines.
3. color/opacity of lines.

Just make a great tool once, instead of making 1000 different systems.

Very confused that XD still doesn't have any features for creating/managing grid systems. A complete wall preventing me from even starting to learn it.

Any updates here? I get that you all have a TON to work on, but consistent updates (even if something is delayed) goes a long way.

It would be nice to have settings for a raster-layout with margin and collums functions

I like XD. I really tried it with a project, until it became just too difficult to hack a grid manually. The lack of a proper layout grid manager is a deal breaker for me. As Calin Balea suggested, Figma has this right.

Its layout grid manager has been extremely liberating and allowed me to regain speed and control over my project (which can be used to generate horizontal grids as well: baseline grids!)

Until XD resolves this, Figma has my heart.

Fluid grid please.

Dumbfounded to learn Adobe XD does NOT have the most basic and necessary feature for layout/design: Margins and Columns. It's IMBECILIC. Sketch has it. Without it, XD is a non-starter of a program. I'm not talking about dragging out the occasional guide here and there, I mean a controllable grid, with margins, columns and gutters. I was all set to embrace XD. Not now. It'll be Sketch.

I would be very happy if we only had the same 'New Guide Layout' option that is available in Photoshop. It would make life and designing in XD so much easier.

Apart from lacking this feature XD works soooo much nicer than Sketch so I'm kinda itching in anticipation for this feature to appear...as does the whole team of ux-ers over here. I sure hope Elaine's message bodes well.

Its really a necessary feature nowadays to have the possibility to create a layout grid and define margins and columns. Also objects should snap to the grids.

Grids are a must. Snap to grid is needed as well. Thank you Adobe.

@Callin: Just because something is grounded in print legacy doesn't mean it has no value. Grid systems themselves are based on design systems devised for print.

I see no reason we can't have both rulers/guides *and* an intelligent grid system.

We shouldn't use guides or rules. That's a print legacy we used for so long as a compromise. The right way is how Figma or Adobe Muse can setup layout grids. If you can build on Figmas' concept and add max-width and min-width properties, it will be perfect.

One thing I urge you NOT to do is take from UXPin's example which has a stupid, broken layout grid tool.

This is an essential feature that keeps me from using XD for any design. I can't see how a professional, qualified designer could layout an interface without a proper grid system.

Justin Cone has a point & describes what's needed perfectly. I constantly use the rulers and guides in other programs, so it's a pain to still be drawing rectangles everywhere to measure things out.

Not trying to troll here; I'm genuinely confused. This feature request been "in the backlog" for almost a year. Other features that are currently being worked on seem either trivial or far more complicated.

We're asking for rulers and guides. These are standard things in nearly every other Adobe app. You don't need to "design this feature," just open Illustrator or Photoshop and copy what you see there.

Would we love a full-blown grid generator? Sure. But we'll settle for RULERS and GUIDES for now.

By the way, this is the single feature that keeps me using Sketch.
