Import Videos & Animated GIFs to show in interactive preview

Support to import a video or animated GIFs to simulate animations or even playable video.

Hello everyone! I’m excited to announce that in XD 45 (released today 10/26), you will be able to import MP4 video into your XD designs.

To ensure platform compatibility and performance across desktop, web and mobile preview, your video must be:

MP4
H.264
AAC audio
under 15 MB
4K or under resolution.

Enjoy and we can’t wait to see what you create!

XD does not support Animated GIF, so if you are still looking for that, please start a separate request and vote on it.

    Please get this feature out of the backlog and bring into development. Auto-animate was a huge step, video is the next big step

    Adding animated gifs would make loading graphics dead easy. Imagine if they had functionality to only animate on mouse over too, that would be great

    Being able to add videos and animated gifs is essential to this process. I've used adobe director for years to create prototypes for film/ tv and the one reason that program is still being used by production today ( and its incredibly old! ) , is because video loops and triggered animation can be used.

    If this feature could be integrated, game changing! ( big ups on the timed transitions btw )

    I would suggest you revisit the priority here. Video is central to the user experience in most mobile and web based apps and platforms. Even subtle uses of video are ubiquitous.
