Import Photoshop vector objects as editable vector shapes
Vector objects (via Photoshop) do not allow color edits. Editing fills extend to the rectangular bounds, not just the object
(the shapes are imported as raster bitmap images, currently)
In the latest version of Photoshop (CC 2017), it’s now possible to copy vector shapes to the clipboard via Edit > Copy Special > Copy SVG. Pasting these into XD will keep them as editable vectors where you can edit the fill & stroke.
If you have any feedback about how this works, please file a new suggestion here in UserVoice or start a discussion in our forums: https://forums.adobe.com/community/experiencedesign.

Tweaked title for clarity (was originally "Changing a rectangle color squares corners").
Also note: you _can_ round one corner at a time separately (once you have a 'native' vector rectangle shape in XD). Hold down Alt (aka Option) while dragging one corner handle. In future builds you will be able to set separate corners from the properties panel as well.

thank you for reporting it! What is happening, when you're importing bitmap image, you can't edit individual properties of this image; thhe same as if you open this PNG rectangle in Photoshop, you wouldn't be able to edit corners anymore. I agree that UI is confusing, and this is in our list of things to improve
To get what you want, you can export image from Photoshop as SVG -

I imported a simple rectangle from PS as a PNG file. It had 2 rounded corners and solid color. When I changed the color in Xd the rounded corners disappeared. When I tried to re-round the corners, Xd would not allow me to round 1 corner at a time and the rounding was too severe.

Looks like this is the same root cause as https://adobexd.uservoice.com/forums/353010-adobe-xd-bugs/suggestions/12868962-transparent-png, where setting the fill removes the image and adds a fill (to the rectangular borders of the image). We've got an issue filed to track that one, so stay tuned.

Hi Peter,
It would be great if I could get a little more information from you. What does your PSD document look like? Are you exporting / importing SVG?
