Normally a text element's layer name is the content of the text element. You can also change the layer name to something different.
However, it would be good if you could then also reset the renamed layer name again, so that the layer goes back to being named after the text content. This is especially relevant if using text elements inside components and component instances. If you have overwritten the name of a layer in a component instance, it would be nice if you can reset that so the layer name is inherited by the master component again (without resetting the whole component instance).
A simple way to do that would be: double click the layer name to edit the name, delete everything, press Enter to confirm.

I have this problem too. I have icons which consist of a group of one path and one transparent rectangle (square) shape in the background, so that all icons keep their square 24x24 pixels dimensions after exporting. I have multiple of these icons on one artboard (as part of a mockup) and I want to export them as SVG assets.
If e.g. an icon is placed on pixel position 50, 75 on the artboard, in the exported SVG the path and the rect elements would receive a transform: translate(50, 75) property and then the group around both elements would have a transform: translate(-50, -75) property. Of course these two cancel each other out so that the path and rect are really placed at position (0, 0) inside the exported SVG. But the two transforms are therefore redundant and should really all be removed.Christoph Mauerhofer supported this idea ·

Hi,
Can you give us more details about your workflow and how the transform impacts you?
Cheers,

The plugin is a good start, but currently I have to choose between viewing the minimap plugin or another plugin or the layers panel or the assets panel.
If I want to quickly jump between artboards with minimap while making changes in the assets or layers panel, I need multiple clicks or different shortcuts to switch between the panels (so this counters the idea of "quickly").
It should be possible to view a minimap somewhere in the corner, while having the normal XD panels visible.

I think it would be useful to view the letter spacing in different units like px, but for the design work it is actually really practical to have it in a unit relative to the font size. Otherwise you would have to adjust the letter spacing everytime you increase or decrease font size, just that the text keeps looking the same relative to its new size.
My feature request "Reset name of text layer to its content" has been merged by Adobe with this feature request.
I am not sure if the two are are entirely equivalent though:
I just made a quick test in XD 50.0.12.14 on macOS and as long as I did not rename a text layer, its name (equal to the content) did update when changing the text element's content. Also when I made a copy and modified its content, the copied layer's name updated. (Both not "instant" while typing, but after clicking outside the text element.)
The idea of my feature request refers to text layers that have been manually renamed in the layers panel. I don't think that in that case, changing the text should automatically update (revert) the layer name back to the text element's content. I'd prefer it if this was a manual user decision.
