    The current workaround for this is to have InDesign or Photoshop open so you can access the glyph panel there, add the desired character to a text frame, then copy it and paste it into XD, and finally, apply the correct font to the text glyph. At least there is that, but it's time-consuming. Would love to have a glyph panel of some kind in XD.
