I really just want a way to group layers, and for those groups to apply across all artboards. I hardly use layers in Illustrator or InDesign, and never mess with the sub-layers. But I have a few use cases where the high level layer groups are vital-- like when I have a notes layer that I want to turn off globally. Tell me how to do that in XD and I'll rescind my request, but I haven't figured out a one-click way to turn off a whole set of content across the entire project.

Please, please add this one. It's so simple, and wastes a ton of time trying to get button text vertically centered in a button.

I agree with Lior Bar-David's comment below. It's helpful to sometimes be able to select a locked layer, and I do like that you can unlock from the artboard, and that you don't have to go find the locked item in a list of layers. The problem I'm having is that sometimes I want to lock something so I can get to an object underneath it, and the way it works now, I'm not able to select the unlocked item that sits under a locked layer.

Hard to believe this one only has 9 votes! This is a basic feature that should be supported when exporting files, as it is far too easy to accidentally overwrite a file you meant to keep.

Maybe this isn't getting voted up much because the ability to export a few artboards is so hidden, so people might not be finding the need to rename the export file if they always export all artboards.

While we're waiting for Xd to implement a documentation feature, I've started using this workaround. It lets you add a notes panel next to each artboard that can be easily moved with the artboard, scaled to accommodate longer scrolling pages, and can be easily shown or hidden when running in preview mode and in your exported PDFs.

UXPin pins their annotations to the "glass" rather than to objects, so if your project has scrolling you can't pin to items that are outside of the initial area before scrolling. I would love to see Xd do this right and allow you to pin to individual objects.

But other than that, UXPin is a great model for how to enable annotations. Just an entirely separate mode for Documentation, just like how you move into Prototype mode in Xd.

Check out my workaround for this issue. It lets you add a notes panel next to each artboard that can be easily moved with the artboard, scaled to accommodate longer scrolling pages, and can be easily shown or hidden when running in preview mode.

Even better, provide a setting that holds for everything you do so that when you scale objects, they automatically align to the pixel grid. It's annoying to end up with things being off by a fraction of a pixel and having to adjust it after every little move.

    This one might help: https://adobexd.uservoice.com/forums/353007-adobe-xd-feature-requests/suggestions/16962847-snap-items-within-group-to-pixel-when-resizing

One thing I DO like is that when you mouse wheel scroll (or rather Magic Mouse scroll) while editing a text field, it doesn't work. InDesign allows you to to scroll while editing a textbox, and many times I've accidentally edited text that was out of view. So don't change that limitation in XD!

I just discovered that if you hid CMD when clicking with the text tool, that it does enter edit mode, but it selects all of the text in the box. So it's 2 clicks to insert in a grouped text box, or 1 click to replace all of the text. However, I'd say that when you have the text tool selected, you shouldn't have to hit CMD to edit the text. Possibly it should be the other way around, that holding CMD would let you select the object and holding down nothing would let you edit it.

But I'd still prefer that it not select all of the text, but rather insert the cursor right where you click, and rely on a double click to select all of the text.

Also, if you're editing one text field, and then CMD click in another one, it doesn't enter into edit mode, but rather just selects the object. I'd like it to behave consistently, even if I had been previously editing another field. This would let me fly through more quickly, editing text in several buttons in a row without having to hit Esc before selecting the next one.

You can direct select elements by holding CMD when clicking on items that are part of groups. Marquee selecting anchor points is landing very soon, so that you could select parts of your rectangle. Do you expect a different behavior? Did I understand your request right? Thanks for your feedback.

Yes... Direct Select Tool (keyboard shortcut A) or what I always called the Open Arrow, is needed in XD. Just hit A, click and drag, and you get all the handles you selected. This is what lets you resize part of an object while leaving the other side of it alone.

Holding CMD when clicking on items that are part of groups solves a different problem. That lets you pick one item out of a group, but you're still selecting that item as a whole, rather than just some of its anchor points.

I think that something as simple as being able to link actions to showing/hiding layer groups could do the trick. Having to build an entirely new page to illustrate each dropdown opening/closing is just impossible to manage, but some clients expect this. (UXPin has the capability to show/hide layers on click)

I found that the order of the pages in your PDF is not actually in the order in which the artboards were created. It is rather based on the X,Y placement of the artboards on your pasteboard. It starts with the artboard on the top left, goes across from there, and then goes down to the next row down.
