    Thanks for reporting bugs!

As a workaround, you can use Shift+up/down arrows to adjust size in natural increments so that right/left margins do not become uneven.

    Hope this helps,
    Randy

    > mask with shape doesn’t work with symbols elements

Yes, for now you can Ungroup the Symbol first and then Mask with Shape. You can create a new Symbol for Masked Group, if desired.

    > Mask within a group is not working

You can Add the shapes in your Group to make a single "union" shape, and then use that shape as a mask.

    > Can we mask two shapes like a line and a rounded rectangle?

Yes. Place Mask over top of all of the other shapes and then Mask with Shape.

    Hope this helps,
    Randy

    > Currently, you can select a single artboard, but as soon as you try to move it, it just deselects and stays where it is.

Correct. It's difficult to know whether intent is to move artboard or start a new marquee selection within artboard. Currently, you can move a single artboard by dragging it by the artboard name tab.

AdminRandy Edmunds (Software Engineer, Adobe) commented  ·

Currently, marquee selection of a single artboard selects all of the elements in the artboard. Marquee selection of artboards does not happen until at least 2 artboards are selected. To select a single artboard, single-click on the name tab.

Does that make sense? If not, how would you like it to work?

    Thanks,
    Randy

Got it. Currently, that’s expected behavior, as double clicking and adding points converts it from a rectangle (which will maintain the corner radius) to a path, which has a different set of rules for resizing (for things like icons). I think what you want is this behavior: https://adobexd.uservoice.com/forums/353007/suggestions/12962355. If this looks good, I’ll go ahead and merge this story with that one.

Are you double-clicking on Rectangle within a Group to select it? If so, try using Cmd-click on Mac (Ctrl-click on Windows) to select item inside a Group. This does not have the "convert to Path" behavior.

    Hope his helps,
    Randy

I think I'm finally getting the issue :)

When you single click on a Path, you can resize it, but all points (including corner radii) resize proportionally. In Path editing mode (double-click), you can also multiple select Path anchor points (using shift-click or marquee-select) and move them together (using keyboard nav keys or dragging mouse over one of the points).

    Does that help?

AdminRandy Edmunds (Software Engineer, Adobe) commented  ·

In your description you say you are "drawing a rectangle" and then "resize that rectangle's width" so it sounds like there is no need to convert the Rectangle to a Path. Can you try the same recipe except "single-click" instead of "double-click", and achieve the desired results?

    Regards,
    Randy

AdminRandy Edmunds (Software Engineer, Adobe) commented  ·

It sounds like you are resizing a Path. This should not happen when resizing a Rectangle.

If you double-click on a Rectangle, it gets automatically converted to a Path. You can also explicitly convert objects to Path. Could that be what happened?

Starting in Version 4, margins are always adjusted so that layout grid settings fill entire artboard.

To avoid this, the increment/decrement values for up/down arrow keys with Shift key for every layout grid setting are now synced to number of columns. For example, when editing linked margins for a 12-column grid, Shift+up increments each margin by 6 and decrements column width by 1. For an 8-column grid, linked margins are adjusted by 4.

What layout grid settings are you trying to set? What's the artboard width?

    Thanks,
    Randy

    > If you have boxes with shadows, then the grid cuts off the shadow.

For shadows on bottom or right, make repeat grid a little larger on those sides.

For shadows on top or left, select element and shift it down or to the right.

XD should behave as you describe. Can you provide a set of steps to reproduce the behavior you are seeing?

It sounds like the difference in behavior has something to do with what you describe as "selected" versus "when I isolate a group of layers".

Also, please include before and after screenshots that include both the Layers Panel, Canvas, and Property Inspector so we can see state of all elements involved.

    Thanks,
    Randy

    > it would be cool to be able to create say a 2-column layout with one 2/3rds column, one 1/3 column, and a defined gutter.

The intended use of this type of grid system to handle that case is to create a layout grid with 3 columns. Assuming the "2/3rds column" is on the left, place the content for that column in the first 2 columns. Place content for the "1/3 column" in the last column. Does that make sense?

    > the ability to define whether or not there is a gutter on the outside of the grid system as a whole or not

The "gutter on the outside" is the margins.

Olga, did you know that you can select an object and press Alt key down to get distances between object and artboard sides? Also, if you move mouse over another object and press Alt key you get the distances between the 2 objects.

Thanks for filing Feature Requests! I've heard others ask to automatically resize Repeat Grid cells when content size increases but I don't seem to see any Feature Request for it.

Note that (for now) you can manually drag the padding to increase cell size.

You can currently add an object to a symbol by cutting, selecting an object inside the symbol, and then pasting. You can also enter and exit group edit context really quickly by double clicking on a symbol or group. However, you’re right in that you currently can’t drag directly into a symbol. I’ll repurpose this request to focus on that behavior.

AdminRandy Edmunds (Software Engineer, Adobe) commented  ·

That should work with basic Groups, but not yet with specialized groups such as Repeat Grids, Boolean Groups, Masks, or Symbols.

Which kind of Group are you trying to tidy up?

    Randy

You can click and drag to create a marquee selection rectangle to select shapes that are hard to click. Does that help?

Currently, this is working as designed since locked elements can't be moved.

Note that you can select and align the non-locked elements, then move the aligned selection and you'll be able to snap to the edge of the locked element without having to unlock/relock it.

I suppose if there's only 1 locked element selected in a multiple selection then the locked element could be the element that is aligned to. If there are multiple locked elements then we'd have to arbitrarily choose one. Is that how you'd like it to work?
